It’s always a good day when we get something out of the General in regards to the all-new 2023 Corvette Z06. And while we didn’t get the must anticipated order guide or base pricing for America’s newest supercar, we did get a couple new videos posted to Chevrolet’s C8 Z06’s Academy on YouTube. You can see both new videos below.

The first new Z06 Academy video is called “Conquer the Air” and it opens with Corvette Racing driver Tommy Milner before jumping to the Exterior Design Manager Kirk Bennion who talks about the wider footprint of the car and how they started the design at the front and moved backward. “The car got wider because we needed these inlets to kinda reach out and start grabbing more air as we got to the rear of the car,” Kirk explains. Compared to the Stingray, the rear tail lamps were moved outward and even the air extractor vents at the rear of the car are lower and wider.

Kirk then moves into the aerodynamics of the Z06 with come great graphics that show how air flows over, around, and through the car. “The front corners’ important because it basically sets up airflow down the whole side of the car. It sets it up for how the air goes over the top, how the air goes through the middle of the car,” says Bennion.

Finally, Kirk is explaining how downforce is so instrumental in keeping the car balanced and offering more control at higher speeds. “We found that if we can get more air out from the bottom of the car, if we could extract it out through the wheel openings, that actually improves the downforce. And it’s an exponential thing where the faster the car goes, the more downforce we get.”

The second new Corvette Z06 Academy video takes aim at the interior of the sports car and calls this video “The Beauty Within the Beast.”

The cockpit of the C8 mid-engine Corvette is driver-focused and its innovative design offers plenty of opportunities for customers to customize it to their tastes. “We’ve got seven different interior combinations of colors, you can customize stitching, and in the Z06 we expand that more. By the time you combine wheel color to seatbelt color, to various seat combinations then tie in exterior color you have well over 11,000 options as a customer,” explains Global Design Manager Brett Goliff.

The Z06 also makes extended use of interior carbon fiber trim packages that covers the door trim, center console and surrounds the gauge cluster. “So, more uses of exotic materials that customers in this market have come to expect. And worthy of a super car,” says vehicle chief engineer Josh Holder. Brett also talks about the new high gloss carbon fiber steering wheel that adds “craft and quality” but that its design is tied back to motorsports as the unique shape allows you to visually see all of your dash at the same time.

We also get some great looks at the new Adrenaline Red dipped interior on the Z06. Brett says “One thing this vehicle enabled was when you went fully leather-wrapped it allows you to bring in more color because color looks beautiful on soft natural leathers. There’s many ways where you can set up, just kinda do this more cockpit variation, and really pulling you into this racing and driving experience.”

  1. Wow, what a fabulous car. Now if only GM would get it’s act together and build them with no parts glitches no order problems and keep the dealers from jabbing customers. No one has anything like this, a new Viper or Thunderbird?? bring it on boys, better pack a lunch.

  2. Quite frankly, I’m really tired of seeing all this hype about the Z06 when:
    > No Order Date Announced
    > No Production Start Date Announced
    > No pricing available
    > No dealer allocation program announced
    > Dealers are collecting millions in deposits for WHAT????
Yet, their hype and numerous videos continue to tout the “amazing” Z07, a Corvette that is barely “street-able”. Come-on, carbon-fiber wheels, track tires (useless here in FLORIDA).

Why, you may ask, They’re trying to hook the big buck buyers and ignoring us longtime, faithful Corvette owners that, “Just wanna have the opportunity to purchase a Z06″ which, at this point seems to be an impossible, pointless effort.
It’s become quite apparent that their marketing strategy is to push the sales of the MOST EXPENSIVE version of the Z06 in hopes that it’ll make Harlen & Tadge even richer.
Come on guys, help us little guys out a bit. Stop with the promo Z06/Z07 videos and give us something we can count on.
