[VIDEO] German Auto Reviewer Makes a High Speed Autobahn Run in the C8 Corvette Stingray

German automotive reviewer Eckhart Egger aka asphalt.art offers up a POV-style review of the 2022 Corvette Stingray and part of his video takes place in the left lane of the German Autobahn! The review is offered in German, but YouTube allows us to follow along with an English translation via closed captions.

In the video below, our host offers a walkaround view of America’s Favorite Sports Car and then takes to the streets at around 5 minutes into the video. Once on the famous motorway he accelerates and is passing cars with ease before slowing to a brisk 150 kph (93 MPH) as he talks about some of the features and options on the car.

According to TopSpeed.com, it was a holiday and traffic was light when the driving was filmed. After finding a nearly deserted portion of the road, Eckhart tries out the Z-Mode button (8:50) and once again lays on the throttle and reaches a top speed of 282 kph or 175.2 miles per hour!

He says “You can’t see at all but I have a permanent grin on my face!”

  1. Ah yes, autobahn A6. An east-west that passes Nuremberg as well as Hockenheim. Drove this one very often when I lived there; the soon to be traded in BMW 335is got many a workout on it!

    Good times!

  2. I continue smiling at the very biased German commentary. Good thing Chevrolet has an official video in Papenberg Germany showing a comfortable run at 312km/h which is vastly better than the alleged 282 Km/h showed by this guy Egger.

  3. Just to give “conversions” on speeds, during the video… (approximated)
    100 kph = 62 mph
    162 kph = 100 mph
    271 kph = 168 mph
280 kph = 174 mph (the top speed that I noticed)
I wish he had the camera ‘mounted’ a bit lower, for a better view thru the Windshield…
But an intersting video to watch.
