In 1996 a book by James Schefter titled “All Corvettes are Red” offered an insiders view of the fight to keep the Corvette alive during the 1990s and it one of the best books on the Corvette you could ever read. In the book, there is a famous quote attributed to John Heinricy who was the leader of the Corvette test drivers. The quote was offered during a meeting on paint quality and color choices for the C5 Corvette in which Heinricy supposedly said “Why are we having this discussion? All Corvettes are red. The rest are mistakes.”

Chevrolet has once again embraced the “All Corvettes are Red” adage with the release of a new dipped Adrenaline Red interior for the 2023 Corvettes. A “dipped” interior is technically a one-color interior that completely covers the inside from the top of the dash to the carpets. If you think all Corvettes are Red, you’ll love this Red/Red combo! Chevrolet showed off a 2023 Torch Red Stingray with the dipped leather red interior at the NCM Bash and seeing it under the sun was even better in person.

The Torch Red Stingray also features some new equipment available for the 2023 model year. In addition to the 3LT Red interior, the Stingray is wearing the new 20-spoke Ultra Bright Machined-Face wheels (Q99) and it has the new Black Exhaust Tips (NGA) for the NPP exhaust. According to the VIN, this is a pre-production (saleable) Corvette wearing VIN 027.

The 2023 Model Year is also the 70th Anniversary for the Corvette and you can see that Chevrolet is celebrating that milestone on all Corvettes with a 70th Anniversary interior plaque that resides under the center speaker on the interior waterfall, as well as a 70th Anniversary window graphic. On the coupes, the window graphic is at the left side bottom edge while on the convertible it can be spied in the top center position so that it can be seen even when the rear window is down.

Is this too much red, or does this Stingray Convertible live up to the quote by John Heinricy that “All Corvettes are Red?”

  1. I’m going to get a little picky here.
    1) I seem to be bothered by the fact that the dividing line between the carbon flash paint on the nacelles and the body colour below is too high to act as a smooth continuation of the line created by the bottom of the door window. Does anyone know why the designers chose to place that paint dividing line as high as they did, rather than have it continue the line created by the bottom of the door window?
    2) I also seem to be bothered by the way that the perforated leather in the middle of the seats, when viewed from an angle (which it almost always is), tends to make the seats appear to be dirty/discoloured. Does that bother anyone else?

  2. They should have done this in 2020. Morello Red was so dull & boring. Blah. Long live Adrenaline Red Dipped. It’ll be on my 2023 for sure.

  3. To DougR, I actually have no problem with the dividing lines of the carbon flash nacelles and the body color. That said, I had my wife’s 2022 HTC done with body colored top, nacelles, and body colored accents. I don’t like that you can spot a Stingray from quite far away by the black boomerangs and that’s why I had my wife’s done in body color. It has thrown off many non-Corvette aficionados and had them wondering what kind of car it is.

I totally agree with you on the seats. I thought of getting a C8Z in torch with Natural dipped but will be doing something different. Part of it is because the C8 light colored ventilated seats do look dirty to me from an angle. Our 2022 is rapid blue with twilight/tension blue interior so it isn’t a problem. I have had many cars in my day with ventilated seats and never really saw or noticed this problem on any other cars, but it sure does seem to look odd on the new Stingrays. I currently have a 2016 Z06 that is Arctic White with Adrenaline Red interior and have the ventilated seats. Never paid any attention to it and it never has looked odd to me. Maybe it is because of the color of material behind the leather in the C8s. I don’t know, but I don’t like it either.

  4. That’s me! EXCEPT for the red interior, anything other than black looks dirty, so mines black with the black top, nacelles, and JAKE on the hood.

  5. Born and raised in Detroit, I am a GM baby and only drive Corvettes, have 2, a 2013 and a 2020. Had 3 to include a 2016, but hubby made me sell it. I plan to order a 2023, Torch Red (only color I buy) but do NOT like that over the top, red interior, tooooo
much red. This way I would have 2 anniversary edition Corvette Stingrays!! Thanks for asking, The Red Flash. Named by local police
    🤩🤩🤩

  6. Personally I believe Corvette’s especially like also Lamborghini’s can be any colour. Only Ferrari’s are red only!
But on another note that Sat-nav screen is the thing that bothers me the most about the car’s interior design. In all these modern cars such screens are going to look so dated in the future!
