Fans of the Denver Broncos might take a special hankering to this 1977 “Orange Crush” Corvette Stingray.
One of 49,213 coupes built that year, the car was “specially custom striped and painted to commemorate the success of the Western Division, AFC Champion Denver Broncos,” according to a newspaper ad from the era that was placed by the selling dealer, Mike Gage Chevrolet of Broomfield, Colorado.
Forty-five years later, this piece of NFL and Corvette history is now up for sale for $35,000 on Craigslist out of the Denver area.
The seller claims that it’s the “one and only original” Orange Crush Corvette, with unique pin striping on the hood, headlight covers, rear deck lid, and rear bumper. Furthermore, it’s also said to have been the second car in the first AFC championship parade and had the honor of carrying head coach Red Miller. The unique Corvette apparently didn’t inspire the Broncos quite enough as they wound up losing Super Bowl XII to the Dallas Cowboys, 27-10.
Win or lose, decades later, this Stingray still seems to have lived the pampered life of a champion, having been driven just 18,500 miles. The seller says it has been kept in a garage its entire life and claims that it still “runs and drives like a new car.”
Features include a 350/180 horsepower V8 engine, automatic transmission, air conditioning, power windows, cruise control, tilt-telescopic steering wheel, and leather trim.
