A 1977 Corvette with rare options and an interesting back history is up for sale on Craigslist out of the Atlanta area.
The price has just been reduced $2,000 to $17,900 by the second owner, who says he bought this black beauty after the original owner of 44 years traded it in.
The seller can document that history because he has a copy of the original title he got from the Maserati dealer where it was traded in. Can you imagine the emotional struggle of that original owner; it must have been like saying goodbye to an old friend.
“The dealer gave me a copy of the Original Title, the day he bought it and the date it was traded in,” the seller says in the listing, “so we know the car was owned by one person for 44 years and mileage is correct.”
His Stingray is nicely equipped with full power options, chrome luggage rack, and the stock polished aluminum wheels, but more impressively includes the rare, more powerful L-82 engine that’s hooked to a four-speed manual transmission.
It’s been driven only 78,000 miles over the past 45 years and has been garaged its entire life.
While the car has never been wrecked or repainted, it does have “a couple of touched up places” and the paint is “weak in a few places,” he notes.
New tires with just 200 miles have been installed, but the car remains in otherwise stock condition with even the smog pump in place. The white interior still “looks almost new,” he adds.
The owner – who describes the car as “very tight running driving handling vette!” – says it’s “not the normal.”
“I’ve had those,” he says. “If you’re looking for one of the best original well kept Corvettes, not the cheapest, give me a call.”
Furthermore, he’s also open to trading “for a good classic.”
