Corvettes for Sale: Original California Black Plate 1967 Corvette 427/435 at ACC Auctions

If the sight of this 1967 big-block Corvette Sting Ray coupe doesn’t get your blood boiling, you might want to check and see if your membership in the Corvette Lovers Club of America has expired!

This fully documented, three-owner, black-on-black beauty might just be one of the most beautiful Corvettes this writer has ever seen, and it’s up for auction at allcollectorcars.com, just waiting for some lucky new owner to climb behind the wheel.

But it’s more than just a pretty face.

This car has the rare JA Code L71 427/435 horsepower solid lifter cam tri power engine (originally a $437.10 option chosen by just 3,754 of the 22,940 owners that year), connected to a numbers-matching four-speed M21 close ratio manual transmission with the original 4:11 Positraction rear end. The L71, on paper, was rated at the highest horsepower out of the four 427 engines available, though the ultra-rare L88 is believed to have been inaccurately lower rated by Chevy at 430 horsepower for insurance reasons.

Originally built at the St. Louis plant on Jan. 18, 1967 and delivered to Warren Biggs Chevrolet in Los Angeles, this car was purchased by Walter Wojay of Illinois from original owner Gerald F. Richter on Feb. 12, 1971 for just $2,675, according to the bill of sale that is just one of many documents that will be going to a new owner in a few days.

Other documentation includes an NCRS Certified Shipping Report that certifies the included tank sheet as being validated and correct for the car, along with receipts from 1971 for day 2 accessorizing by the second owner and several repair receipts through the years, including ones for a complete engine rebuild showing all parts used.

The original 1967 California Black plate is still on the car, along with the original Warren Biggs license plate frame.

This Corvette came equipped from the factory with four-wheel disc brakes, power windows, electric hideaway headlights, tinted glass, AM/FM radio, factory seat belts, and factory black interior. Black side pipes have since been installed.

The original Silver Pearl paint was recoated with Tuxedo Black in 2011, when the current owner purchased it from Mr. Wojak.

Today, the car has been driven only 33,648 miles over the past 55 years and still looks amazing, especially with its Goodyear Eagle GT white-letter tires over 15×7 Ansen Sprint aluminum slot wheels, which we absolutely love on this Sting Ray!
