[VIDEO] Trouble Ahead After Emelia and Her C8 Corvette Named Phoenix Returns to the Track

Emelia Hartford is back behind the wheel of her C8 Corvette Stingray named Phoenix as she returns to the dragstrip in her quest to beat her fastest personal best of 9.36 seconds set back in 2021.

Her latest video, unfortunately, hints at something going wrong with the car despite some solid runs at the strip. We’d previously seen her dealing with white smoke and fouled plugs from the dyno test video shot prior to this one, and the reveal of even more engine troubles comes during the tear-down following the race track action.

At Famoso Dragstrip, Emelia says they are starting with 9 lbs of boost to set the baseline as this is the first time she’ll be testing a new prototype transmission controller that was installed in the previous video. After her first two runs were a bust, they realize the transmission needs to go through a relearning process and after some tinkering on the computer, her third run is much more solid. Still, problems persist as she complains about the car feels down on power after each shift, and on another run, the transmission wants to go straight to sixth gear.

Yet, Emelia does manage to have a couple of great runs and at one point she is cheering inside the car saying “it works, it works” as she crossed the finish line at 9.74 seconds at 144.21 mph. Next, they are going to run at 13 lbs boost and she turned up the Line Pressure Control Box to 10%, adding that it’s such a new addition to the car that it doesn’t officially have a name, so she’s calling it the “chingaderas” which you can look up yourself to find the meaning…

After her first run at that new boost levels, she complains the car is fighting itself, and after a few more runs they believe the issue might be the current R&D clutches. In a debrief at the end, she says they have great lower-end times, and it is the top end that they’ve been fighting with. Again she says they think it might be the clutches. It’s during this cut scene back at the shop that we can see what appears to be coolant in the Corvette’s oil which earns this episode the “Engine Destroyed” title.

  1. Agreed. The struggle is all so real. Rockwell’s comment was spot on though- go to the MECF forums; one criticism of the princess and boomers rush to her defense by the herd. I’d know; I was banned there for calling them out as simps.

  2. A for effort Emelia. Unfortunately, more R&D$$ is what it will take before you achieve your goals. Good luck.
