What could have been a beautiful photo of an Arctic White C8 Corvette coupe in front of a lake and rolling hills northwest of San Francisco, California instead turned into an ugly portrait of what can go wrong when mixing high speed with reckless driving.

The California Highway Patrol was called to the scene of a roll-over accident at noon Saturday, where this Corvette had smashed into the driver’s side of a Toyota pickup while trying to pass it and two other slower-moving vehicles on Point Reyes-Petaluma Road in the Marin Area of California.

The Stingray suffered major damage to its front end after striking the pickup, which had slowed to attempt a left turn into a dirt parking area. The impact caused the Toyota to overturn, winding up at a 45-degree angle on its top near the Corvette.

The three passengers in the pickup had to be transported to an area hospital for minor to moderate injuries, CHP said, while the Corvette driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

He’ll be issued a citation for the unsafe driving maneuver, but drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to a Facebook post by CHP.

“If you are traveling in West Marin, please remember to drive with caution and care,” CHP urged in the post. “Get to where you are going safely. There’s no need to rush.”

Hopefully, this Corvette driver would no doubt agree, now that he’ll likely be without his Stingray for a prolonged period while awaiting repairs.
