If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to get into the Corvette hobby and don’t mind applying a little elbow grease, this 1991 Corvette coupe could be your ticket.
The car is currently being offered through Monday on eBay at no reserve, where 50 bids have been placed so far and climbed to a peak of just $4,700.
We’re told in the listing that the Corvette was recently donated to a national charity after apparently being purchased at auction – if the Mecum tag still on the back of the vehicle is correct.
Perhaps a case of buyer’s remorse?
Could be since the selling agency – a national agency named Just Donated out of California that specializes in charity vehicle auctions – admits several problems with the car. It’s described as “running rough, misfire, engine light is on, needs service,” not to mention other repairs needed for a leaky exhaust, a slow leak in one of the tires, and a weak battery that needs to be replaced.
Optimistically speaking, the car is said to run and drive, though it’s only been “alley tested” and not on public roads or at highway speeds.
Perhaps the best thing you can say about the car is that it’s a rare color. Only 650 of the 20,639 Corvettes built for 1991 were coated in this Yellow paint, though this one is described as having “minor wear and tear” with visible paint fading. The black interior, meanwhile, also shows such signs of use but overall it’s in decent looking shape for a car that’s traveled nearly 144,000 miles.
Features include power windows, locks, and seats; an automatic transmission; and the standard 350 V8 engine that produces 245 horsepower.
Too bad this isn’t a ’92 model since that’s the year Chevy beefed up the engine to 300 horsepower. This one does have the updated hybrid digital/analog instrument panel and dual airbags that were introduced in 1990, however.
All in all, we like the look of this car, which features a set of aftermarket wheels that add some pizazz to its appearance. For the money, it could be a fun little car for the right person.

Dual airbags didn’t come along until 1994. That’s a glove box lid in front of the passenger.
That’s a 1996 front bumper. What else has been done to this Vette?
