For the first time since it started racing over 21 years ago, Corvette Racing has split up its two-car racing effort with the No. 3 C8.R competing in IMSA’s new GTD-Pro class while the No.4 Corvette will be headed to the FIA’s World Endurance Championship Series. The first race for the WEC’s 2022 season will kick off during the Super Sebring weekend (March 18th) with the 1,000 Miles of Sebring and the No.4 Corvette, rebranded for the WEC as Number 64, will be wearing its traditional Yellow/Black livery.

Corvette Racing broke the news on Twitter Thursday morning with a photo of the No. 64 Corvette C8.R in Yellow and 2nd-year driver Nick Tandy is exciting to be driving the mid-engine racecar in its Yellow livery:

It’s great to finally race a yellow Corvette! Everyone knows a battle is coming when they see #Corvette Racing yellow!” – Nick Tandy

Corvette Racing fans were surprised by GM and the team as our first look at the new race car showed the C8.R in a Silver racing livery for the No. 4 Corvette while the No. 3 C8.R was dressed in Yellow. The C8.Rs were revealed in October 2019 at the Kennedy Space Center along with the street version of the C8 Convertible.

As Doug Fehan has told the corral fans many times, no other color on a race car photographs on a track better than Yellow, and we are glad to see it return for the WEC.
