[VIDEO] GM President Mark Reuss Talks C8 Z06 on Cars and Culture with Jason Stein

GM President Mark Reuss is making some news among Corvette enthusiasts this week after he appeared on the Cars and Culture YouTube channel with host Jason Stein and was asked about the new Corvette Z06 as well as future C8 offerings.

Asked about the status of the Z06, Reuss first started talking about last October’s visit to the Nurburgring where he says [the Ride and Handling team] was working with the near-100% calibrations. “That car on that track was like nothing else I’ve ever experienced…it was almost like it was on rails,” said Reuss who then started talking about the engine and exhaust components of the car. “We did not have the [exhaust] sound right towards the end of development, and so we really worked hard…our engineers did a phenomenal job, and in fact, if you take and drop that exhaust system out of the back of that car, you could make an incredible piece of art for your home,” Reuss says while laughing.

Jason’s next question mentions a Zora model with 1000 horsepower and he asks Reuss “how big could this get for Corvette?” Reuss responds by saying one of the reasons they went to the mid-engine architecture was due to running out of room on the front-engine models and he comments, “I think there is more performance left in this platform with some other things from an ability to get power to the ground…we’re just now really engineering and developing that, so there is more to come.

  1. Getting the power to the ground is ‘mportant! Otherwise, you may end up driving the pace car straight into the wall.

  2. Can u provide me with address of Mark Reuss. Perhaps he will feel sorry for a 75 year old prior vet owner , veteran in finding a way that I can get my order via Mike Furman as an extra order for a young 75 year old that would like to get delivery by the time I turn 76. 10/02/22? Your thoughts are appreciated Barry Ringelheim
