It’s not likely the new owner of this A HREF=”https://www.corvetteblogger.com/tag/1972/”>1972 Corvette coupe will meet a similar car coming down the road.
That’s because it’s finished in Pewter Silver, that year’s rarest color that coated just 1,372 out of the 27,004 Stingrays built in the St. Louis factory.
This rare Corvette, which appears to have undergone a major restoration and presents nicely, is currently up for sale by our friends at Corvette Mike in Anaheim, California on the Bring a Trailer auction site.
With four days left in the auction, the current bid is $15,000.
The most distinctive feature about the car is its powerful replacement 454 V8 engine that rests underneath a hood bulge with 454 badging.
A video walk-around of this Stingray, which includes a cold start, reveals a nice paint job, and an equally nice black vinyl interior that includes high-back bucket seats and woodgrain trim accenting the center console and doors.
Other equipment includes 15-inch silver rally wheels inside BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, four-wheel power disc brakes, manual windows, center armrest, lap belts, power steering, Delco push-button radio, full range of gauges (including 160 mph speedometer, 7,000 RPM tachometer, and center-stack mounted auxiliary gauges), and air conditioning (though it’s currently not functional).
This ’72 marks the last of the full chrome-bumper Corvettes and was built near the end of production on June 6, 1972.
