The story behind the name of the Corvette comes from Chevy PR man Myron Scott who was part of the naming committee. Myron was reading the dictionary looking for a word beginning with “C”. Coming across Corvette, a type of warship that provided escort duty, Myron liked the sound of it and thought it would tie in well those who served in World War II, a target demographic for the car. The name stuck and it would spawn a number of nautical-named concepts and models like the Mako Shark, Manta Ray, and the Stingray.
Thanks to this video on Instagram, we can now close the loop and show a Corvette that is actually a speedy boat. You know you have to be a true believer to create something like this and the attention to detail from what we can see is pretty good. Who wants to bet that even has a Corvette steering wheel and seats?
