The sound of f@%&ing angels! That’s how Philadelphia’s AWE Tuning, the self-proclaimed “Best Sounding Exhausts on the Planet”, describes the bespoke, asymmetric system that they have cooked up for eighth-generation Corvettes.

They are able to “unlock unprecedented tone and performance” with a proprietary straight-through design that features drone-canceling 180 Technology. Now available for pre-order are their rowdy Track Edition exhaust and, the more civilized, Touring Edition. Both are handcrafted in the USA from three-inch, CNC mandrel-bent, .065″ wall T304L stainless steel with stout, eight-inch flex sections that isolate engine movement to increase durability. All of this equates to possible gains of 19 wheel horsepower and 15 wheel torques while saving 31 lbs. in Touring form and 39 lbs. for the Track Edition over the stock exhaust setup.

Both systems have been thoroughly tested at the strip, road course, and through long-term street driving. The guaranteed fit, direct bolt-on exhausts have no effect on factory emissions equipment and include AWE’s AFM Valve Simulators and an aluminum heat shield.

The quad 4.5″ double-walled slash-cut tips can be ordered in chrome silver or diamond black. Discounted, early adaptor prices range from $1,999.00 for the chrome Track Edition to $2,795 for the black diamond Touring Edition, hitting $2,059 and $2,695 along the way for the black diamond Track version and chrome Touring Edition, respectively.

AWE produced three videos to get you hooked; first is a cinema-quality teaser that provided the first sentence of this article. Next, they have separate 2+ minute clips of C8s equipped with their Touring and Track exhausts revving and driving in various situations. Fair warning, the videos are quite persuasive! Within 24 hours of release, AWE’s systems were named a top C8 exhaust by our friends over at the Corvette Forum, they sound different from any of the other aftermarket exhausts that we have heard for the latest member of the crossed flag family, for better or worse.

  1. Why is the “Track Edition” quieter than the “Touring Edition” both inside and outside?
