How does the thought of driving this 1960 red Corvette convertible around town this summer, top-down and the wind blowing through your hair (if you have any left, lol), sound to you?
While the world is concerned about the coronavirus right now, we’re hopeful that by summer, the new owner of this classic C1 will be able to enjoy just that scenario.
And we know there will have to be a new owner since the car is being offered at no reserve out of Woodstock, Connecticut on BarnFinds.com after 36 years of continuous enjoyment by the same owner.
Seventy bids have already pushed the offer to $50,100 so far, with the auction coming to an end on Sunday at 4:32 p.m.
This car isn’t perfect, but we tend to believe that having the same owner for such a long period of time is worth a lot when it comes to buying one of these old classics.
The best news might be that the car is said to have “an excellent rust-free frame with no visible patches or repairs.”
The body also appears to be intact and features an older single stage lacquer repaint showing signs of age, the seller reports, “with some cracking and other imperfections you would expect from paint job from that era.”
Mechanically, the car has a 283 V8 engine with a four-barrel carburetor, four-speed transmission, and Posi-traction rear end. Though we don’t know if it is numbers matching, we ARE told by the seller that the car “runs, drives & looks good.”
The interior looks to be in good shape with no rips or tears, though there are some minor imperfections that might need to be taken care of if you’re picky, including a lumpy and cracked dash and a few marks on the metal “Corvette” dash insert.
Overall, though, the seller believes this Corvette to be a “turn-key C1 Corvette @ a great price that can be used and enjoyed right away,” and furthermore, “an early Corvette that can be enjoyed as is or bring it to the next level while enjoying it.”
Maybe that summertime dream will soon come true for some lucky enthusiast.
