If this is the new Rapid Blue that’s expected as one of the new exteriors on the 2020 Corvette well then you can call me a fan.
Over the years, Chevrolet has traditionally offered both lighter and darker shades of Blue for the Corvette and both camps have their favorites. As much as I enjoy the darker blues with Electron Blue being up there towards the top, I’d take a lighter Nassau Blue Corvette anytime!
A few months back, we learned through a leak of RPO codes by a Canadian dealership that Chevrolet may be offering the mid-engines Corvettes for the 2020 model year in both Elkhart Lake Blue and a new Rapid Blue.
The internal GM paint codes for Rapid Blue supposedly popped up in a GM Parts Catalog several months ago and utilizing those codes, another CF member was able to share this pic of a blue paint chip. We see it was posted back in February where it was originally referencing the 2019 Corvette, but it has now resurfaced in a new C8 thread on the Forum:
The CF-member (Tool Hoarder) who brought up the paint chip again today also posted a pic of the CERV III Concept and there is no doubt that they are similar. We also note that Chazcron’s recent new renders also featured a lighter shade of Blue that is also very similar to this paint chip.
Just 15 days until the reveal of the C8 Corvette so we’ll soon see the three new colors expected for the C8 Corvette: Zeus Bronze and Rapid Blue, as well as the new Accelerate Yellow which will be replacing Corvette Racing Yellow. Until then, stay tuned!
