Corvettes on eBay: 2001 Corvette Z06 in RARE Speedway White

In 2001 Chevrolet reintroduced the Z06 name to the Corvette line-up by transforming the “budget” fixed roof coupe into the brand’s performance model. The new Z06 was powered by a higher performance 385-hp LS6 V8 with a manual 6-speed. During its first year, Chevrolet would produce 5,773 examples.

Although horsepower was increased to 405 the following year, the 2001 model year was unique in that it offered the Corvette Z06 in Speedway White. The color was ordered on just 352 Corvettes or 6% of all Z06s produced in its inaugural year.

Speedway White would disappear from the Z06 color choices the following year, and in 2004 the color was officially dropped from Corvettes with Arctic White coming as the replacement. White as a color choice for Z06s wouldn’t be offered again until Chevrolet introduced the Ron Fellows ALMS GT1 Championship Special Edition Corvette Z06 with 399 examples built in 2007.

I found this 2001 Corvette on eBay this afternoon and I almost kept it to myself. You know that feeling when you lust after a certain car, then one becomes available and you can’t pull the trigger? Kinda like that… So the second best thing I can do is share it here with our loyal readers!

This 2001 Corvette Z06 has just 53,662 miles on the odometer and it’s being offered on eBay Motors as a classified ad with a Buy-It-Now price of $23,900. The seller is a dealership out of Florida and the classified’s listing period runs for another 19 days.

The seller says the Z06 has always been stored in a climate controlled garage and has never been driven in the rain. The car shows well and we couldn’t identify any blemishes or scratches on the exterior from the many photos provided. The interior looks good as well with perhaps only the steering wheel showing some wear.

The previous owner also added an axle black “Borla-style” performance exhaust system as well as a cold air intake and a Hurst short shifter.

The 2001-2004 Corvette Z06s are currently a hot market item and you can generally find the C5 Z06s priced in the $18,000-$24,000 depending on year, miles, options, and color. It’s a model that we’ve been watching as they offer a huge bang for the buck, especially as the engines were upgraded to 405-hp in 2002. However, you can’t go wrong with this special one-year-only color that is now back in style due to the popularity of White on the C7 models.

  1. Everyone thinks their Corvette is in some way RARE. The reason why there was only 352 made, was no one wanted a white Corvette back in 2001. The C4, C5, & C6’s didn’t really look that good white, but I think white is one of the best colors for the C7’s.

  2. Judging strictly by numbers,my Sterling Blue is rare, with under 1k across all models and trims but I don’t consider it rare. I chose it partly because it ISN’T red, white or black. Black Rose was my 2nd choice. If I wanted white,I’d rent a car.

  3. ….wel i would swap wiht my prestine 1997 mustang cobra cabrio….28451 miles…..did i say it is white….
