We’re used to telling you about Corvettes on eBay that, shall we put it mildly, need a little tender loving care.
But this 1955 Corvette – one of just 700 produced that year – needs no TLC, other than a new owner to give it a hug and proudly call it his or her own.
Legendary restorer Kevin Mackay and his Corvette Repair Inc. team in Valley Stream, N.Y., are responsible for turning this ’55 into a showpiece.
The previous owner spared no expense in a frame-off restoration to make sure his Corvette looked exactly the way it did when leaving the factory in St. Louis (probably better in many ways) by using NOS parts.
Not surprisingly, the car – which was the 106th built that year and has the original VIN tag still attached to the body – quickly earned prestigious Top Flight recognition after the restoration.
In fact, the new owner will get the NCRS Top Flight certificate, NCRS Top Flight ribbon, NCRS judging sheets and customer invoices that were passed on from the previous owner.
Remember, too, that ’55 was the first year of the V8 engine, and this one has a smooth-shifting Powerglide automatic transmission.
Since being restored, the car has been kept safe and sound in a climate controlled garage “ensuring to keep it in tip-top shape,” according to the listing. “The under-carriage of this ’55 is just as nice as the interior and exterior, you could eat off of it!”
“If you’re seeking the very best, look no further!” the eBay listing proclaims. “This vehicle will not disappoint even the pickiest of buyers.”
Of course, the best doesn’t come cheap. This one is priced at $159,900. The auction still has 13 days and will end on May 18th at 9:52 PM ET.
