Corvette Racing Receives Invitations to Race at the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans

Last week the ACO released the 60 entries for the 24 Hours of Le Mans and as expected, Corvette Racing’s C7.Rs received their invitations to race at the summer endurance classic held in June.

The Corvettes will be facing off against a nearly identical list from 2016 of works-supported entries in the GTE-Pro class which include Ford, Ferrari, Aston Martin and Porsche.

Invitations are required to race at Le Mans unless the team received an automatic bid. Corvette’s No. 4 C7.R received an automatic entry after winning the 2016 Weathertech United SportsCar Championship in the GTLM class as did the No.68 Ford GT which won the GTE-Pro class last year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

There are 13 GTE-Pro entries for this year’s race with five being full time WeatherTech United SportsCar Championship teams:

  • 51 – AF Corse – Ferrari 488 GTE – James Calado*
  • 63 – Corvette Racing – GM – Corvette C7.R – Jan Magnussen
  • 64 – Corvette Racing – GM – Corvette C7.R – Oliver Gavin
  • 66 – Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Team UK – Ford GT – Stefan Muecke*
  • 67 – Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Team UK – Ford GT – Andy Priaulx*
  • 68 – Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Team USA – Ford GT – Joey Hand
  • 69 – Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Team USA – Ford GT – Ryan Briscoe
  • 71 – AF Corse – Ferrari 488 GTE – Davide Rigon*
  • 82 – Risi Competizione – Ferrari 488 GTE – Toni Vilander
  • 91 – Porsche GT Team – Porsche 911 RSR – Richard Lietz*
  • 92 – Porsche GT Team – Porsche 911 RSR – Michael Christensen*
  • 95 – Aston Martin Racing – Aston Martin Vantage – Nicki Thiim*
  • 97 – Aston Martin Racing – Aston Martin Vantage – Darren Turner*

* Denotes full time FIA WEC Entry.

Larbre Competition and their Corvette C7.R is set to return to the GTE-AM field and will feature Ricky Taylor as part of its driver’s lineup.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place in France at the Circuit de la Sarthe on June 17-18th.
