[PICS] Corvette Day at Lingenfelter Cars and Coffee

Last Saturday was another of the mega popular Cars and Coffee events at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering in Wixom, Michigan. This event was a special one as it was Corvette day. All of the Corvettes in attendance were grouped together and parked right in front of the building. Expectations were high for a super turnout as we all know how eager Corvette owners are to get together and peruse each other’s rides. The only problem was that someone forgot to tell Mother Nature that it was Corvette day.

As we also know, Corvette owners tend to keep their cars inside when the weather is, or looks to be, bad. You can imagine our disappointment when a rainy Friday carried over into a rainy Saturday. At an event where you generally cannot find a place to park, attendance was notably down. Thankfully the rain did hold off until just before the official ending time of 10am.

Our day started out with an 8am arrival and we were able to score a prime parking spot right across from the gift shop. We didn’t count, but we were happy to see maybe 30 or so corvettes out for this edition of cars and coffee. We saw examples ranging from a red/red 1964 convertible to brand new black C7R convertible. In between there were a couple of C3’s, several C4’s and even a C5 restomod. Then, of course, the balance of the cars were the more modern C6’s and C7’s. Some of the notable non-vettes included a Ferrari F430, and Porsche 944, and a healthy number of Mustangs and Camaro’s.

Given the inclement weather the folks at Lingenfelter decided to open up the prestigious Lingenfelter car collection to the Cars and Coffee crew. So just about 10am most everyone dodged the rain drops and made the 15 minute trek over to the collection. We’ve covered the collection here a few times before, but rarely miss a chance to go see it. Owner Ken Lingenfelter is constantly buying and selling cars so there’s always something new to see. His tastes are so eclectic that there’s really no way to compare this collection to any other in the world. The runaway star of the collection is the new $1.1M Ferrari LaFerrari, but we were quite smitten with a Cascade green 1957 Corvette Fuelie. Other notable Vettes included famous Duntov Mule, a supercharged 1953, a V8 powered 1953 engineering development car, and the silver 1954 styling car. Later model delicacies include a plethora of Callaway and Lingenfelter cars as well as a pair of Guldstrand GS90’s.

Even though the weather didn’t cooperate Corvette Day and Lingenfelter Cars and Coffee was a great time. We got to see some great Corvettes and other supercars plus talk with some even greater people.
