Mobil 1 Celebrates 20 Years as Title Sponsor of the Twelve Hours of Sebring

Endurance is definitely the name of the game when it comes to the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring – and not just on the track.

At Saturday’s 63rd annual event, for example, the title sponsor – ExxonMobil – will be celebrating some endurance of its own, observing a remarkable 20 years as title sponsor, one of the longest sponsor relationships in motorsports.

Mobil 1, of course, plays a big role for Corvettes in general and Corvette Racing in particular. All Corvettes have come from the factory filled with Mobil 1 oil for years, and that loyalty carries over to the track, too.

Corvette Racing's Ryan Briscoe Looks to Duplicate Daytona's Success at the 12 Hours of Sebring
Ryan Briscoe (Left) with Antonia Garcia (Center) and Jan Magnussen (Right) after winning the 2015 Rolex 24 of Daytona

For the second year in a row, Chevrolet driver Ryan Briscoe will be once again join Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia in the No.3 C7.R Corvette at the 12 Hours of Sebring. The inclusion of Briscoe kept the team competitive in 2014’s Daytona 24 Hour race as well as the 12 Hours of Sebring, but issues with the new C7-based Corvette racer kept the team from achiving any kind of real success.

But that was last year.

For 2015, the No.3 Corvette C7.R with Briscoe, Magnussen and Garcia took the checkered flag in the opening round of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship which gave Corvette Racing their first Daytona GT victory since 2001.

Thanks to our good friends at Mobil 1, we had the opportunity to ride along in a hot lap in a Bondurant High Performance Driving School’s Velocity Yellow 2014 Corvette Stingray at the 12 Hours of Sebring last week.
