We heard that the Corvette Racing team was in Sebring for a private testing session this week and now pics have emerged showing the C7.Rs in camouflage on the familiar blue/white circuit in Central Florida. It’s amazing how much the race cars resemble the production versions and I sure can’t wait to see what they can do in their inaugural race at Daytona next month.
“Fast Phil” Currin used his savvy brain to become one of the steadiest Corvette racers of the 1970s.
He paid just $1,900 for his red 1963 split-window some 47 years ago. Now 67, Currin and his Corvette – nicknamed “Giantkiller” when he made a habit of beating newer, flashier cars – made an appearance at the Hall of Fame’s 40th anniversary at Sebring in March.

The Corvette Team’s annual seminar to Corvette owners and enthusiasts at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring included a very special guest – the 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe. Team Members Tadge Juechter, Harlan Charles and Bowling Green Assembly Plant Manager Dave Tatman each spoke about the new 7th Generation Corvette and then answered questions from the crowd.
No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6.R Brings 8th 12-Hour Victory to Corvette Racing
SEBRING, Fla., (March 16, 2013) – Tommy Milner made a late pass for the lead and then held on for the final 15 minutes as the No. 4 GT Compuware Corvette C6.R won the American Le Mans Series GT class 61st Annual Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring at Sebring International Raceway on Saturday.
When it comes to racing, Corvettes have a storied history. Highlights on their racing resume include wins at Daytona, Sebring, and LeMans, the C4 Corvette Challenge Series, and ALMS dominance over the last decade. Corvette Racing fans were spoiled over the last few years with the “Track to Street” series that gave enthusiasts an upclose and personal look at the people and the cars over the course of the last two ALMS and Le Mans seasons. With three races having already been run in 2012, and no “Track to Street” videos, thinking was that the series was no more.
Well here is some good news. Pratt & Miller posted this new video called Corvette Racing ‘Flat Out’ on their Facebook page and is documents the season opener at the 12 Hours of Sebring.
One of the highlights of attending the 12 Hours of Sebring are the seminars put on by the Corvette production team. Corvette’s Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter and Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles made the trek from Detroit and brought down several Corvettes to show off to the faithful in the Corvette Corral including the new 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible with the 60th Anniversary Package.
