Corvette Racing made their first appearance in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) outside of Le Mans recently at the Lone Star Le Mans in Austin, Texas. While their finish at the Circuit of the Americas wasn’t what they are used to and certainly not what they had hoped for, the experience doesn’t seem to have soured Corvette Racing’s interest in more racing in the WEC.
There’s just one special place on this earth where all serious manufacturers take their sports cars to be tested and that’s the Nurburgring.
Last year, Corvette Stingray fans were cheated out of the opportunity to see the new C7 run a fast lap due to rainy weather on the Nurburgring’s Nordschleife. But now the “Big Nasty” 2015 Corvette Z06 has been spotted testing on the famous 12.9 mile German track so let’s all say a prayer for clear skies and fast lap times.

DETROIT (Sept. 26, 2014) – Ryan Briscoe will return to Corvette Racing next week for Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta as the third driver in both of the team’s Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs. The Aussie star will try to help Corvette Racing and Chevrolet win for the fifth time this year in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship’s GT Le Mans (GTLM) class. The annual 1,000-mile/10-hour endurance race is set for Saturday, Oct. 4.
The first production 2004 Le Mans Commemorative Edition Z06 will cross the block at Mecum’s Chicago auction on Saturday October 11, 2014. The 405 horsepower Z06 bears the special Le Mans blue paint with silver and red striping, along with special badging commemorating Corvette Racing’s consecutive 1-2 finishes in its class at the 2001 and 2002 24 Hours of Le Mans.
General Motors is taking a wait-and-see attitude on its future participation in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship’s Prototype category.
Corvette DP has been very successful in the category, having won the final Grand-Am Rolex Series DP title in 2013 and currently residing atop the TUDOR Championship Prototype standings.
The Corvette world is mourning the passing of another racing legend, Dr. Dick Thompson.
“The Flying Dentist,” as he came to be known, didn’t start racing until he was 32 years old, but he quickly became a force to be reckoned with in many different makes of automobiles, not just Corvettes.

AUSTIN, Texas (Sept. 20, 2014) – Indeed sometimes when it rains, it does pour… as was the case Saturday for Corvette Racing’s No. 65 Konica Minolta/Michelin Chevrolet Corvette C7.R. The entry of Tommy Milner, Jordan Taylor and Ricky Taylor was a victim of cruel luck as the trio finished seventh in the GTE Pro class of the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Six Hours of Circuit of The Americas.

AUSTIN, Texas (Sept. 20, 2014) – It was a difficult day for the Corvette C7.Rs in the Lone Star Le Mans event at Circuit of the Americas on Saturday. Returning to the site of a victory in last year’s American Le Mans Series race, Corvette Racing aimed for a return to the GT Le Mans (GTLM) podium in the TUDOR Championship. An early charge by Antonio Garcia in the No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R at the start of the race raised hopes as the Spaniard moved from seventh to fifth in the opening laps.
