Chevrolet’s Corvette officially turns 60 this weekend. It was June 30th, 1953 when that first Polo White two seater left the Flint, MI assembly plant. If you’re looking for a way to help celebrate Corvette’s 60 year legacy you’ve got several options this weekend. From Illinois to Kentucky to Detroit there are plenty of events taking place and we’ve neatly summarized them all for you after the break.
The National Corvette Museum will attempt to LIVE STREAM the NCM Motorsports Park groundbreaking ceremony tomorrow at 10:30am ET / 9:30am CT. The livestream will be shown at this link: http://www.motorsportspark.org/livestream/.

Here’s another way for Corvette lovers to celebrate our favorite mark’s 60th birthday. Corvettes in the D will be taking place this Sunday, June 30th at GM’s world headquarters in Detroit. The event is being coordinated by Larry Courtney who also organizes the annual Corvettes on Woodward food drive each year in August. Fourth, seventh place in final Le Mans for C6.R with new car looming for 2014
LE MANS, France (June 23, 2013) – Corvette Racing and its two Compuware Corvette C6.Rs completed the most demanding auto race in the world today by finishing in the top seven of the GTE Pro class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Jordan Taylor brought home the No. 73 Compuware Corvette in fourth place after starting seventh. It was a remarkable comeback that saw the trio pick up three spots in the final six hours. The No. 74 Compuware Corvette finished seventh with Oliver Gavin, Jan Magnussen and Richard Westbrook driving.
Since the new Corvette Stingrays have hit the streets, we’ve actively been searching the ‘net looking for examples of each of the 10 colors available. But since the C7′s introduction in January, one color has alluded us until now – Arctic White.
Last weekend, one of the engineers from the Bowling Green Assembly Plant made the one hour drive down I65 in an Arctic White 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe to the Cars and Coffee gathering in Nashville and we’re very excited to share these photos with you.
Corvette enthusiasts all around the world continue celebrate the marks 60th anniversary in 2013. Le Corvette Club de France will be hosting a 2 day get together August 31st and September 1st at the La Ferté Gaucher race track in France. For you geography buffs, that’s located between Paris and the Champagne region. Even though the event will be held in France, they’re inviting enthusiasts from around the world to attend.
Mecum Auctions held their annual 2013 Spring Classic last month in Indianapolis. Over the course of the event, the Mecum team rolled 1,716 vehicles across the block. Of those, 1,156 were hammered sold for a 68% sell-through rate. We already told you about the black and blue 1967 convertible which sold for $610,000 to take top Corvette honors. When Bloomington Gold announced that they were moving to Champaign, IL after 10 years St. Charles, IL they did so in order to facilitate bigger and better Corvette-related events like an improved GoldTour. Now they’ve taken the wraps off of their Corvette-only Gold Autocross making its debut at this year’s show.
