[VIDEO] 1967 Corvette Named 'Revelation' is the 2015 Goodguy's Street Machine Of The Year

Check out this video of a 1967 Corvette “Revelation” built by Mike Goldman Customs that won the 2015 Goodguy’s Street Machine of the Year crown in Columbus, Ohio at the 18th PPG Nationals on Saturday night.

New this year was placing all eligible cars in each category inside the Celeste Center, host site for the awards ceremony. That’s where the top five finalists in both divisions were announced to the crowd, then driven to the stage for the official ceremonies.

But first Scottie D TV gives us this walk around of the wild but restrained C2 done in white over tan.

“Look at that – brushed nickel (front bumper) and flat stinger hood (in gold),” your video host says.

“Got the stance right,” Scottie D continues, praising the quality of the work done by Goodman Customs.

He zooms in for a closeup of the fabulous 427 engine with stacked injection, and you get a look at how that powerplant performs on the Autocross at the end of the video, too.

“Everything’s molded,” Scottie D adds as he continues to walk around the car. “Look at that third brake light. How cool is that?”

Forgeline Wheels add a modern touch, and Scottie D is a big fan of the chin spoiler below the front bumper, too.

“Just cool, modern day cool,” he exclaims.

The custom interior is “just sweet,” Scottie says. “Looks like you could just slide down in it, right? It’s molded. Everything is molded and smooth – just a beautiful job they did on this car.”

“Right colors,” he says. “White usually doesn’t pop, but with the accent color I think it looks really good.”

The result is one cool C2.

In fact, Goodguys organizers say the field of Street Machines this year eclipsed anything they’ve ever seen.

On their website, Goodguys said the builders made this year’s top 5 selection the most grueling their officials have ever encountered.

But there has to be a winner, and when the votes were counted, it was Louisiana’s Sonny and Debbie Freeman driving off with the most coveted crown in the Street Machine world.

Goodguys described their Corvette this way: “Their Arctic White ’67 Corvette by Mike Goldman Customs is a world class car with otherworldly styling and handling characteristics. The Vette’s scratch-built rockers sit a mere 3″ inches off the ground, channeled neatly over the Roadster Shop chassis. Other handmade panels include the rear pan, full belly pan, wiper grates, one-off grille, and one-off nickel bumpers as well as all nickel trim. The gaps are flawless and uniform throughout – no easy feat with a Corvette! Powering the nimble beast is a simply wicked Mast Motorsports 427 c.i. V8 pumping out 700 ponies. Custom coated Forgeline wheels (18×8″ front and 19×10” rear) are shod in sticky Continental tires.

“Inside the cabin, Paul Atkins stitched the rust colored leather, wrapping both dash humps. The stock dash houses Classic Instruments gauges while the steering wheel is from Billet Specialties. The Goldman’s also integrated a ’62 Corvette hatch creating a seamless waterfall interior flow.”

It’s not just a sharp Corvette, though. It can move, too as Talbert Goldman proved behind the wheel as he ran an Autocross lap of 42.414 seconds – one of the fastest times in the class.
