[VIDEO] Edmunds Drives the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

Looks like several of the automotive magazines and websites got their chance to drive the 2014 Corvette Stingray recently as we’ve saw a number of tweets hit just after 5:00 pm ET today with links to articles and videos by the likes of Edmunds, Motor Trend and Automobile Magazine.

The testing was held at GM’s proving grounds and Edmunds provides this video showing the new Stingray undergoing instrumented track testing which includes 0-60, quarter mile, braking, slalom, and skidpad.

Check out these stats from Edumund’s tests:

  • 0-60: 3.8 to 4.1 seconds
  • Quarter Mile: 12.0 @ 117.3 mph
  • 60-0: 93 feet
  • Slalom: 72.8 mph
  • Skid Pad: 1.08 g

So how does Edmunds.com test driver Josh Jacquot do compared to the official numbers from Chevrolet? Here are the 2014 Corvette Stingray performance estimates released by Chevrolet back in June:

  • 0-60: 3.8 seconds
  • Quarter Mile: 12.0 @ 117.3 mph
  • 60-0: 107 feet
  • Skid Pad: 1.03 g

A quick read of the some of the other Stingray tests are showing (nearly) similar numbers and it appears that from a performance standpoint, the 2014 Corvette Stingray would be slotted right between the C6 Corvette Grand Sport and the Z06.

I’m really amazed by the 60-0 number which Chevrolet said would be just under 107 feet. At 93 feet, that equals the stopping distance with the 2011 Carbon Edition Corvette Z06 with Brembo’s carbon ceramic brakes. A quick look at Motor Trend’s instrumented test has the 60-0 stopping distance at 104 feet which is more in line with the official number.

As more information comes out on the Stingray, is it meeting your expectations? Tell what you think in the comments below.
