In the late 1960s and early 70s, one of the biggest interest stories in America was space travel and the journey to the moon. As a sign of progress and achievement, General Motors and Chevrolet wanted to tag their names to these accomplishments. So a deal was struck with Jim Rathmann Chevrolet to have a “Courtesy Car” program for the astronauts to lease a Corvette for $1. What better way to show America and the world that Chevrolet was the leader in speed, power, and technology by showing astronauts driving Corvettes.

The first year of the C6 ZR1 was 2009, not exactly the best economy for Chevy to be trying to sell a car that was priced north of $110,000.

But the original owner of this super-Corvette ZR1 for sale today on bringatrailer.com bought it anyway, holding onto it for the next decade until just recently and racking up just 400 miles on the odometer.

At the NCM Bash last year, we heard mention that the National Corvette Museum may be exercising an option it had to purchase additional land around the NCM’s Motorsports Park. In the latest NCM Newsletter, the Museum has announced that it has followed through on those plans with the purchase of an additional 208.323 acres of adjoining property next to the track.

The Chevrolet Camaro team put out a release today with the news that the 2019 Camaro ZL1 1LE will be getting the 10-speed automatic transmission beginning in late February.

The ZL1 1LE model is the most track-capable Camaro and it has already given some very respectable sports cars a run for their money at the Nurburgring with a lap time of 7:16.04. And now armed with the 10-speed automatic transmission, Chevy engineers were able to go a half-second faster than the standard 6-speed manual at the 2.9 mile Milford Road Course.

Corvette Racing to Enter a Single C7.R for WEC 1000 Miles of Sebring

Corvette Racing has been confirmed for the World Endurance Championship’s 1000 Miles of Sebring which will be held on Friday, March 15th ahead of the annual IMSA Twelve Hours of Sebring on Saturday, March 16th.

The lone entry for the IMSA WeatherTech GTLM Champions was revealed by SportsCar365.com after the WEC recently issued an updated entry list.
