Chevrolet kicked off a Corvette order cycle for late October this week. Allocations were sent yesterday and next Thursday we will get the latest constraints as the order bank opens up.

From the very few dealers we spoke with, the number of cars granted were much lower than the previous consensus. However, that really doesn’t surprise us now in light of the news of the Corvette Assembly Plant closing for four weeks over December/January.

Is it possible for some of these orders to get built before the plant closes in December? That’s what I know many customers are probably thinking. Let’s hope it works out for you if your order goes in next week!

Grand Sport vs Stingray

Roger Kiel C8 Production

With the return of production to the Corvette Assembly Plant this week, we wanted to see the quantities that were being produced. Turning to Roger Kiel’s C8 Production Chart, we found that the Grand Sport has now out-produced the Stingray on all three days of the report, and not just by a couple of units: 152 to 120!

The quantities of the Grand Sport X are also promising as they have completed 40 units during the first three days this week.

Stingray/Grand Sport STOP SALE

As for the STOP SALE announced this week, a Top 10 dealer we spoke with this morning is expecting the new labels to arrive today according to FedEx tracking. An incorrect evaporative-emissions family name was on the emissions label on 2027 Corvette Stingrays and Grand Sports, but Grand Sport Xs are in the clear. Once these new labels are affixed, they will be in compliance and then can be delivered to their new owners.

Something triggered me to go look up and see how many new Corvette Z06s are currently available in the marketplace. The Chevrolet Live Inventory system shows 508 units available (2027s) in the continental USA. While that seems like a decent amount, try searching the biggest volume Corvette dealers for the model and you might be disappointed.

Utilizing this Top 25 Corvette Dealers ranking from September’s sales, we hit the dealer websites of the Top 10 and came up with the following count:

1. MacMulkin Chevrolet – 1
2. Bomnin Dadeland – 1
3. Mike Furman/Criswell Chevy – 2
4. Les Stanford Chevrolet – 1
5. Ciocca Corvette – 15
6. Bomnin West Kendall – 0
7. Classic Chevrolet – 2
8. Findlay Chevrolet 9. Van Chevrolet – 3
10. StoneBriar Chevrolet – 2

Other than Ciocca in Atlantic City, the number of available new Z06s available at dealers (both 2027s and remaining 2026s) is really low. This is both good and bad. Good in the sense that a tightening market can help stem the depreciation from all those Z06s currently out there, but bad as these dealers don’t have the dealer stock for that impulse buyer who wants to sign and drive on Saturday.

The Z06 is still the third most produced model at the assembly plant, but so far just 1,345 have been built for the year. Could it be they are building demand for an X model? I’m personally not counting on an eAWD version to happen, but that doesn’t mean I would be surprised to see a really low quantity Z06X special edition offered.

And finally, here is other depressing Z06 stat before we sign off. Of the 508 ’27 Corvette Z06s available, only 43 (8.5%) have the Visible Carbon Fiber Aero and 60 (11.8%) have the Carbon Flash painted aero.
