Corvettes for Sale: 18K-Mile 1990 Corvette ZR-1 Offered on Bring a Trailer

It’s getting harder and harder to find an exceptional C4 ZR-1 these days.

Not surprising since Chevy’s “King of the Hill” supercar made its debut 37 model years ago!

This red-on-red 1990 Corvette ZR-1 example has already been sold twice on Bring a Trailer, in 2022 and 2024, and now with 18,000 miles on the odometer, it’s making a third appearance after more than $2,000 worth of maintenance work in March.

The current bid is just shy of $20,000, and there remains five days for that number to climb even higher.

One early commenter, Jadvette94, chimed in with nostalgia: “I think I may have seen this car at Russ Chevrolet when I was a kid…” That’s the kind of personal history ZR‑1s tend to unlock.

The listing details a thorough round of recent service: resurfaced flywheel, transmission fluid service, new clutch, oil pressure switch, camshaft position sensor, spark plugs, air filter, and drive belt. The LT5 — co‑designed by GM and Lotus and built by Mercury Marine — remains the centerpiece, still rated at 375 hp and 370 lb‑ft.

Seller barrettautogroup highlighted the car’s strengths in the comments: “With its Lotus-developed LT5 V8, six-speed manual, low mileage, and unmistakable C4 styling, the ZR‑1 remains one of the most special American performance cars of its era… and this one is selling at NO RESERVE.”

They also noted the car includes the “pizza box,” though not the glass top.

The ZR‑1 wears staggered 17-inch wheels wrapped in Nitto NT555 G2 tires and features the three‑mode Selective Ride and Handling Package with Bilstein shocks. Inside, the red‑on‑red cabin shows typical C4 equipment — sport seats, automatic climate control, cruise, onboard computer — though some power seat controls aren’t functioning and the Delco‑Bose stereo is locked.

Commenter Bmarcum praised the presentation while noting areas for improvement: “I also love red/red 90 Z’s! This car keeps getting better! The engine has staining and rusted bolts and the undercarriage could be addressed… Beautiful presentation! GLWTA!!! Get one while you can.”

Another longtime BaT voice, ZR1ZR1ZR1, zoomed out to the era itself: “General Motors was really building some amazing cars in the late 80s and early 90s. The C4 ZR1, GNX and Syclone/Typhoon were truly cars ahead of their time.”

And of course, someone had to celebrate the color combo. 70_duster kept it simple: “I love the red on red!” So do I, 70_duster, my first three Corvettes (1980, 1986, and 1989) had the same color combo!

Carfax shows no accidents, one service history record, one open recall, and 31 detailed records, with the most recent odometer reading at 18,324 miles. It passed California smog in October 2025.

While the photos are of great professional quality, the glare off the shiny paint may or may not hide any flaws. With the low mileage and the impeccable quality of the interior, though, we’d be surprised if there are any major chips or scratches. Overall, though, it seems this ZR-1 is about as good an example as you could find these days.
