[VIDEO] Corvette E-Ray Takes on the ZR1 in Quarter‑Mile Battle

A new video from the Wheels YouTube channels takes us to Mission Raceway Park in British Columbia. For this battle, we have a C8 Corvette ZR1 lining up against the C8 Corvette E‑Ray during a street‑legal test‑and‑tune night. It’s a great opportunity to see how these two different Corvettes compare with each other in another quarter mile battle.

Somewhat interesting is the fact that both of these Corvettes are Convertible models, which once upon a time ago you wouldn’t really see a couple of soft-tops duking it out at the track, but the HTCs really prove the versatility of C8 platform. The ZR1 Coupe comes armed with a high wing while the E-Ray Convertible has a wing of its own. However, the big difference comes from how these two cars make their power with the ZR1 having a 409-hp advantage.

Even with that horsepower advantage, the E-Ray is still able to get the jump on the ZR1 once the light goes green as its AWD gets all four wheels moving. However, that lead is short-lived as the ZR1’s twin‑turbo power quickly takes over.

The ZR1 wins the run with a 10.60 at 128.50 mph, while the E‑Ray clocks an 11.02 at 120.19 mph. For Corvette enthusiasts, it’s a great real-world demonstration of these different Corvette models as both Corvettes show off their strengths: The E‑Ray’s AWD traction advantage versus the ZR1’s overwhelming horsepower once the boost hits.
