For more than two years now, Chevrolet Performance has had an attainability problem that will continue until the new Camaro mercifully arrives in showrooms next fall. But what are those of us looking for Z06-levels of performance without spending Z06 money supposed to do until that fateful day arrives?
That’s the idea behind a recent series from the always excellent Savage Geese YouTube channel. With early C8 Corvettes already depreciating and likely to dip even lower once their barnstorming LS6 replacements become widely available, it’s finally possible to get a current-gen ‘Vette on the cheap and use it as one of the greatest starting-points in hod rod history!
The trek that began in November has reached the end of the road, and the SG guys are ready to share with the class! They do so with a 21-minute breakdown of their Arctic White 1LT Stingray and its laundry list of realistic but mighty modifications that, according to our hosts, take it into 911 GT3 territory.
The reworked car, dubbed C8.P, gets the full video treatment, including a full mod list (with all-important parts links included in the video description), performance comparisons to stock, driving impressions, and a thoughtful final introspection. Warning to all C8 owners; don’t hit play unless you’re ready for a bite from the modification bug or have tremendous levels of self-control!
From Savage Geese via YouTube:
We continue the build series on the C8 Corvette Stingray where we discuss changes to the Aero and suspension. We set a lap time to compare the car before and after. As usual we discuss the good and bad and how it’s not always so simple. Other cars to consider are the BMW M2, Acura Integra Type S, VW Golf R, Toyota Supra, and Audi RS3.

The oversized Porsche style gooseneck rear wing is goofy looking and it’s not attractive at all on a Corvette.
I think this is why I love the E-Ray so much. It always felt pretty much perfect–stock.
