Our friends at Chevrolet found a perfect way to kick off the celebration for America’s 250th Birthday…by blowing out 250 candles and then performing some donuts in a Red Mist 2026 Corvette ZR1X.
The Red Mist 2026 Corvette ZR1X is wearing an American Flag livery with elements from the Limited-Edition Stars & Steel graphics package. The stunt was staged on one of the in-field roads at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with Corvette development engineer Cody Bulkley behind the wheel.
Starting from a dead stop, Cody accelerated to 90 mph in the all-wheel drive ZR1X as he passed within inches of the 250 lit candles that were spaced every nine inches for 186 feet total.
And then came the donuts…
Cody put the Corvette ZR1X into a rotation and never lets off the gas as the Red Mist Corvette ZR1X drifts around in tight circle of just 100 feet. The patriotic Corvette is burning rubber with blue smoke while a drone overhead captures all the action.
Once completed, Cody drives back to the candles where he exits the car and is handed a bottle of cool, refreshing milk, just like tomorrow’s winner of the Indianapolis 500 will be doing. Not content to just drink the milk, Cody takes it to the next level by pouring it over his head in true champion form.

So what does the Corvette Nation think about this latest stunt by Cody Bulkley and the Corvette ZR1X to celebrate America’s 250th Birthday? I’m always glad to see them find a new use for the car and blowing out candles after launching the 1250-hp ZR1X is one way to do it!
On Sunday, a custom-painted, dual color Stars & Steel-inspired Corvette ZR1X will lead the field to green at the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500. Catch all the action on FOX.

I watched the video of this guy telling the TV reporter about how big and great this stunt was going to be. After watching him perform the stunt I actually wasn’t over impressed with it. Sorry dude.
Oh my, that could be done with a Kia Soul other than the donuts. More ads are needed – it only took about 5 minutes for my constipated PC to open this!
Really did not see the candles get blown out. Needs an overhead drone shot in slo mo.
But I like it when stuffy huge corporations let their marketing and product guys do bat$hit stuff.
Pathetic, yet unsurprising. GM’s marketing department rivals that of Apple and Tesla. OPUD all day long, right GM? Distract people from all of your fumbles and foibles for the entire C8 run–and they’ll forgive you, right GM?
When did the last E-Ray roll off the line, and when does the first GSX roll off the line? Oh right, GM.
