[PICS] A Closer Look at the New Optional CFL Front Splitter for 2027 Corvette Grand Sport

Chevrolet has introduced a new front Carbon Flash splitter for the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport and Z06, and we were able to catch our first look at it during last month’s Michelin NCM Bash.

To set the table for you, previously GM offered a base front chin splitter for the widebody Corvette E-Rays and Z06s which were standard on both models. For the E-Ray, the chin spoiler was offered in body color while the Z06 came in Carbon Flash.

Now that that E-Ray is going away, GM decided to change up the ground effects formula for the Grand Sport. It will still feature the base chin spoiler, but it will be offered in Carbon Flash as the default – the same as the Z06. Here is a base Grand Sport splitter:

If you wanted to upgrade from the chin spoiler, your only option from the factory was getting the Z06-style ground effects package in visible Carbon Fiber or painted Carbon Flash. But as constraints have hit the CF parts hard over the years, this new front splitter will hopefully alleviate some of those ordering issues.

The new splitter is made from a composite material and its RPO code is CFL. Chevy has it priced at $995 and with the recent price increases for the Z06/GS Ground Effects aero, this could be a cost saving alternative for many buyers wanting a slightly more aggressive look without the upcharge of the more costly CFV/CFZ splitter and rockers package in Carbon Flash or Visible Carbon Fiber.

CFL Splitter on a 2027 Grand Sport

It’s offered as a three-piece design and there are several clues when spotting. The base design is very short in terms of how far it extends from the painted fascia, while the new CFL design drops down from the painted fascia and then extends outward. It’s subtle, but once you know what you are looking for, it becomes obvious. When compared to the CFV/CFZ splitter, it closely follows the facia’s corners while the Carbon Fiber splitter extends outwards on each corner.

For the Grand Sport, this new CFL splitter works very well with the new base side rockers. These new rockers extend nearly the full length of the Grand Sport’s side profile, and they have a straight edge as compared to the shorter Z06-style side rockers which bulge out at the front and then are tapered at the end. Grand Sport buyers can still add the CFV/CFZ Ground Effects package in either Visible Carbon Fiber (CFV) or Carbon Flash-painted carbon fiber (CFZ) to their builds, but with pricing now at $3,495 for the CFZ Carbon Flash Ground Effects or $4,495 for the CFV Visible Carbon Fiber versions, the $995 CFL front splitter looks like a great alternative.
