Chevrolet introduced two new colors coming to the exterior of 2027 Corvettes with Admiral Blue Metallic and Pitch Gray Metallic slated to replace the outgoing Riptide Blue Metallic and Hysteria Purple Metallic.
Yesterday’s reveal of the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport and Grand Sport X put most of the spotlight on Admiral Blue, which is making its third appearance on Corvette exteriors. The first was back in the final year of the C4 when it was the exclusive color for the ’96 Grand Sport. Chevrolet then brought it back in 2017 for the launch of the C7 Grand Sport, and now we have it once again for the 2027 model year. But now we want to talk about the new Pitch Gray Metallic.
Since the cancelation of the popular Hypersonic Gray in 2024, and the short two-year run for Sea Wolf Gray that ended in 2025, Corvette enthusiasts have been without a true gray exterior. Now, we have Pitch Gray Metallic coming in 2027 and I predict this color will be a top five color for the new year.
The Corvette Assembly Plant held a reveal party for employees on Thursday to celebrate the official first look at the new Grand Sports and our friend Matt Beaver of Hondru Chevrolet of Elizabethtown in Pennsylvania sent us these two pics showing a fender painted in Pitch Metallic. While I always try to reserve our judgement of new colors until they can be seen outside in the sun, we can already see how this color is going to be dynamic on Corvettes.
Pitch Gray appears to have a heavy metallic content which to our eye is more of a lighter silver flake that should lighten the look of the cars when exposed to direct sunlight.
It’s also a color that looks like it will go great when paired with either Black or the Polished wheels. It should also pair very well with any of the high-performance Corvettes and their visible carbon fiber aero packages.

Wonder how close this is to cyber gray
I’m definitely going for Admiral Blue myself, but that is a beautiful gray. It reminds me of the Cyber Gray metallic from the late 2000’s/early 2010’s that Corvette shared with Camaro. I always loved that color!
Wow… another grey. Maybe I’m the weird one, but why is anyone ever excited about a grey, silver, or white ‘color’ on a car?
My Z06 is Sebring orange and the metallic is a fine gold material. It looks fantastic. It seems as though this new Pitch Grey Metallic is going to be at least as classy. A metallic in dark silver has always been a favorite of mine and they really hit the mark with this one!
Looks great in pic. I agree… want to see in person and in the sun.
The release of the Grand Sport and Admiral Blue can be forgiven. It was Sebring after all.
But why could GM not keep a lid on Pitch Grey and/or GSX until the Bash.
A big draw for the Bash every year is the new colors and model variants. I hope the rumors of lower-than-expected pre-registrations are false.
I love everything about this color and the new GS(X). But I’m getting an HTC Stingray Z51 with the quad center exhaust. Thanks, Chevy, for giving us that option. I hope that you all will also standardize the HTC with the remote that will open and close it. One other thing I wish was optional is making the HTC with a transparent top, there’s gotta be a way to make that work.
I have a 2011 Grand Sport in Cyber Gray Metallic, which I really like. The metallic aspect shows in the sun as little blue specs, and in certain lights gives the dark gray color a noticeable hint of blue, which looks even better than the cyber gray in the garage. This new color looks very similar, although it is under artificial light indoors. Only bright sunlight will tell for sure.
Let’s be certain that everyone understands that the C4 Admiral Blue is a very different color than the C7 and C8 Admiral Blue.
I like this color. It’s way better looking than the last gray that was offered on Corvette that being the ugly Sea Wolf Gray.
Hopefully it looks better in the sun.
I loved the Night Race Gray but Chevy never pushed iy
It’s not a bad color and the other guy’s right with the whites, blacks & Silvers. But here’s my take, Corvette is a World Class Winner! This car is an amazing standout and it shouldn’t be in the shadows it’s due to it being an unbelievable car. And the color should be the same as a Real Winner with a Touch of Class Yellow, Red, Orange & I love the Bronze metallic. Bottom line it’s a great world isn’t it when we all can chose right USSR!
What could be more boring on a sports car than white, silver, or another shade of gray! And to add insult to injury they got rid of two actual colors as opposed to gray scale non-colors. The worst looking gray was that battleship gray / primer gray that they called Sea Wolf. Why would anyone want a car that looked like it was needing a paint job LOL? The best looking gray was Cyber Gray. I almost considered buying one of those as it did look good with a gray convertible top. What I really wanted was yellow or Inferno orange, but couldn’t find a good one, so I went with a really nice 4LT Torch Red convertible with a 6 speed manual which gets compliments everywhere I drive it.
DODGE has 3 great Grey’s, which isn’t a color, by the way. Neutral. Looks good on my DEMON.
I’d just love for GM to NOT OFFER Black and White for 1 year. Just force people to go with another color or wait for the subsequent year.
Anything close to Steel Cities Grey will be a win!
