This week was a good one for Corvette enthusiasts as we got some welcomed news on the upcoming Grand Sport for 2027.
The GM Dealer meeting continues into this week and it’s our hope that the Grand Sport may actually be making an appearance as has been done in previous meetings. We recall a few years back that dealers did get an early look at the ZR1 prior to its release and so there may be some more to share here in the next few days.
In the meantime, our friend Mike from the Brink of Speed YouTube channel does an excellent job in diving into the news of the Grand Sport X and what that will mean for buyers. In addition to the expected bump in power with a new engine and possibly the ZR1X’s front electric motor, he also discusses the rumored entry point for the GSX model which is most likely the same as the starting MSRP for the current E-Ray.
I also must add that his image above of the widebody with blue calipers, blue side intake trim, and matching hash marks against the Arctic White exterior is a really good look as well!
From Brink of Speed via YouTube:
The Corvette world just got massive news coming out of the Las Vegas Chevy Dealer Meeting… the C8 E-Ray is reportedly being phased out, and in its place we’re getting an AWD Grand Sport X for 2027.

I cancelled my order for a 2026 Eray because of the new engine. The Grand Sport X would. Be ideal, but the C9 is too close. I’m number 5 on my dealer’s list for the C9
I’m first on the list for the GSX at my dealer and super excited to take delivery. I’ve had 2 C8 Z51s and loved both of them. I’m 79 and have been driving Corvettes since I was 22. GM knocked it out of the park with the midengine.
Thank you GM!
This doesn’t sound confirmed exactly, but all signs point to yes. I know Mike from BOS is a big fanatic, but he lays the excitement on a little too thick with his headlines…
I wanted the Eray but ended up with the C8 only because the dealers were selling the Eray way, way over MSRP. Today, knowing that the Grand Sport X will be coming, I will get one of them. I think some dealers may get stuck with the Eray’s.
I have a 2024 zo6 have to say mi don’t like it because I need a manual transmission.
So to say the least very disappointed they did not bring the manual back for the grand sport
So I just ordered a 2026 dark horse manual can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!
I currently have 24 Z06 HTC. I will be looking at the Grand Sport X if it’s for real. Hopefully it’ll be on the build & Price website prior to the beginning of 2027 production.
Mike does a great job presenting the information and laying out whats in store for the Corvette. I look forward to his videos as it helps me keep up with whats happening, what to expect and insight into why.
Sold my ’23Z after the 6 months was up and kept my M7 ’18Z…Best decision ever. Have no interest in ever owning another GM car, let alone a C8.
