[SPIED] 2027 Corvette Grand Sport with Quad Center Exhaust Driving in Michigan

Some enthusiasts started their day wondering if that Revving Corvette shared Thursday morning on the official Corvette Instagram account was actually a teaser video of the Grand Sport’s LS6. Click the link if you haven’t seen it yet. I am feeling pretty confident telling you that it’s not after hearing Rick Conti’s video with the LS6 exhaust note late last year before it was taken down. But kudos to the Chevy social media team getting people excited regardless.

Now, if you really want to see a disguised C8 Grand Sport in the flesh, check out these images of a widebody coupe with the quad center exhaust and carbon fiber wheels. The mule was captured by our wingman “Goose” and shared on the MidEngineCorvetteForum.com this morning. Goose just happened to come up on his “6” and was able to capture several photos of it as it was driving down a two-lane road.

The car is wearing the number 7 next to the Michigan Manufacturer plates, and we can see that this isn’t production ready as the rear fascia has the cutouts for the corner-mounted exhausts found on the Stingray/E-Ray. When you look at the Z06 or ZR1s, they don’t have those cutouts on the corners.

There is no badging on the sides of this mule, and the CORVETTE lettering is missing from the rear deck. We can also see that it has the standard Z06/E-Ray side rocker panels whereas that Admiral Blue Grand Sport spied last month had a side rocker that was more similar to the Stingray’s 5VM aero which has the vertical wing at the end. And finally, the mule is equipped with the carbon fiber Z06/E-Ray wheels.

It could be argued that this is a “just a Z06,” but with the Grand Sport and its new LS6 6.7L V8 engine coming in 2027, we have to believe engineers have been attempting to put as many miles as possible on the new cars. That’s why we believe there is a Grand Sport powertrain hidden under that body. The rumor from the start of the Grand Sport’s development is that GM has been driving the new cars while wearing full Z06 badging and wheels to be able to test the cars in public without drawing too much scrutiny from interested parties.

Like the OP on MECF so pointedly said, the engine is clearly covered with a cloth. They wouldn’t do that to an LS6….

The introduction of a GS C8 with LS6 keeps the Corvette moving forward.
The C3 and C4 cars ran record length model years.
The C8 is so great and advanced that a C9 is going to have to be beyond belief. The GS with a bigger more powerful engine and wide body reinfigorates the C8. It might well outsell the base ( I hate that discription) and become the C8 volumn leader.
Will Chevy go for the fences in pricing or will they decline the temptation???

Hey Everybody,
The 8th Generation Corvette Team at Chevrolet and General Motors has designed, engineered, assembled and sold the Corvette Sports Car in the WRONG direction with the introduction of the 2020 Base 1LT Stingray Coupe priced at $59,995 MSRP climbing to a current 2026 model year Base 1LT Stingray Coupe MSRP of $70,000 with a new ridiculous Destination Charge of $2.495 due to a severe lack of a professional transportation company to deliver new Corvettes.
With the exception of the elimination of the Wall of HVAC Buttons, and adding another damn screen to look at – the current Corvette Stingray is not any different now than the 2020 Model Year Corvette.
Yet there is this Chevrolet distorted corporate mandate to build as many Corvette versions as possible to compete with Porsche, and on a minor level, Ferrari, McLaren, Lambo, Mercedes, Lotus, Lexus, etc.
And now with the E-Ray, Z06, ZR1 and ZR1X being available next to the Stingray for 2026, the upcoming 2027 Grand Sport Corvette with a new engine is about to pop out of Bowling Green.
Why in the Hell does Anybody need another Corvette model?
Put the new more powerful, better engine in the Stingray and E-Ray and then add more cost to the base MSRP for a few more ponies.
