Corvettes for Sale: 35-Years-Owned 1965 Corvette Project Offered on Bring a Trailer

After 35 years and only 13 miles with the same owner, this 1965 Chevrolet Corvette convertible project car has surfaced for sale on Bring a Trailer — a rare long term owned C2 that still runs, drives, and carries its original charm, even as it awaits a full restoration. The car, currently bid to $15,000 with a week remaining, offers an unusual mix of originality, patina, and potential for the next caretaker.

The seller purchased the Corvette in March 1991, when the odometer showed 52,826 miles. Today, it reads just 52,839 — meaning the car has spent virtually its entire modern life in storage. Despite the long slumber, the Corvette remains operational thanks to recent mechanical attention, including a new fuel tank and battery installed in January 2025.

From the factory, this Corvette left St. Louis finished in Glen Green (paint code 900GG) over Saddle vinyl (trim 420BA). The fiberglass body still wears its original color – in places – but will need a complete repaint. Much of the exterior trim — including bumpers, grille, taillights, and badging — is missing, though the sale includes two uninstalled door trim panels. A body color removable hardtop and side exit exhaust system add to the car’s appeal.

The car rides on 15 inch cast aluminum knock off wheels wrapped in Hankook Kinergy ST tires. Four wheel disc brakes, introduced in the 1965 model year, remain in place, and the seller reports that the brake master cylinder was replaced in January 2025.

Inside, the Corvette shows its project status clearly. The Saddle vinyl bucket seats remain, but carpeting, headliner, door sills, door panels, and various trim pieces are missing. The AM/FM radio powers on but isn’t connected to speakers, and the analog clock’s hands occasionally stick. Wear is visible throughout, offering a blank canvas for a full interior restoration.

Under the hood sits a replacement 327ci V8 installed under previous ownership (though there is some debate in the comments section that the numbers match the VIN – might be worth checking out if you’re seriously considering this project). It’s paired with a four speed manual transmission. While the car runs, it will need continued mechanical attention as part of the restoration process.

With only 13 miles added in 35 years, this Corvette is a time capsule waiting to be revived. The trim tag confirms its desirable Glen Green/Saddle color combination, and the presence of a hardtop, knock off wheels, and side pipes adds to its appeal.

For a buyer seeking a running, largely complete mid year Corvette project with long term ownership history, this 1965 convertible represents a promising starting point. Are you up for the challenge?
