If you’re a Corvette enthusiast with a thick enough wallet, Chevrolet is getting ready to roll out the red carpet for you.

The 2026 Corvette ZR1X is already one of the wildest machines ever to wear crossed flags—a 1,250 horsepower monster with performance to rival the world’s best. But GM has found a way to make even this halo car feel exclusive. Chevrolet has created a bespoke, one of one ZR1X, and it’s heading to the Barrett Jackson Scottsdale auction on Jan. 24 to raise money for charity. And if Chevy’s global design executive director Phil Zak is right, this may be the first of many ultra custom Corvettes.

With ZR1 and ZR1X prices climbing well past $200,000, Corvette is attracting buyers who expect the same personalization offered by Porsche’s Sonderwunsch, Ferrari Tailor Made, and Lamborghini’s Ad Personam programs. Zak says those customers aren’t shy about what they want.

“Now as we’re getting into higher level trims, and we’re getting into a customer that has a literal thicker wallet, for them, bespoke is different: ‘I want like, bespoke. I want one-of-one,'” Zak tells R&T. “So that’s what this is as well; we get the plaque inside that really shows this is a one-of-one, we’re not going to do any additional. We’re starting to kind of test the waters, if you will, on that side of the fence: how can we take our customization that we have now and expand on it.”

The idea traces back to last year’s Quail Silver Edition models—the first satin finish Corvettes since the C2 era. The overwhelmingly positive response convinced GM that buyers were hungry for more.

Now, the same team behind the CX and CX.R concept cars has created a one-off 2026 ZR1X finished in Dark Satin Steel, a color never used on a production vehicle. Because the shade is so difficult to apply, GM tapped its Design Fabrication Shop in Warren, Michigan to hand paint the entire car.

Zak says the reaction at The Quail last year was a wake up call.

“If you look at The Quail edition vehicle that we did when we launched the CX and CX.R, we’re starting to appeal to a broad range of customers, and some would like more vehicles that are bespoke,” Zak says. “So we’re able to kind of walk into that arena right now, and that’s one thing that we’re just kind of experimenting with. What can we do?

“When we went to The Quail, the response we got was just incredible. And that buyer there, it’s not like, ‘What does this cost?’ It’s just, ‘I want this, and this, and this, go build it.’ It’s like, whoa, we’re kind of not there yet, but you just start to get that enthusiasm. And [ZR1] packs the pedigree to actually compete with others.”

For those wanting something slightly less extreme, Chevrolet will also release 250 Stars and Steel Edition Corvettes across the Stingray, Z06, E Ray, ZR1, and ZR1X lineup for 2026, celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

But the one off ZR1X is the true centerpiece—and the experience extends far beyond the car itself. The winning bidder at Barrett Jackson will receive a private delivery inside GM’s Design Dome, a facility normally closed to the public and steeped in Corvette history. They’ll also get a special welcome package (details still under wraps) and the chance to travel to Bowling Green to help build the engine—complete with their name on the engine plaque.

One-Off Corvette ZR1X to be auctioned for Charity

All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which provides mortgage free homes and custom housing for injured veterans and first responders.

For Corvette fans, this one off ZR1X isn’t just a charity car—it’s a glimpse into a future where Chevrolet embraces true bespoke craftsmanship.
