Corvette CX Concept Named a Finalist for Two EyesOn Design Awards

Corvette’s World Domination Tour continues this time with 2 more award nominations for a Corvette that’s not even in production yet. Today, the Corvette CX Concept that was revealed at the Quail last August was named as a Finalist for 2 of the 4 prestigious EyesOn Design Awards.

The car itself is one of 3 finalists in the Best Concept Car category. There it will compete against the Bentley EXP 15 concept and Cadillac’s striking Elevated Velocity concept.

Additionally, the Corvette CX is also a finalist in the Best Designed Interior category. Competitors here include the Bentley EXP 15 once again and the BMW Concept Speedtop.

Entering their 20th year, the EyesOn Design awards celebrate exception design in production and concept vehicles unveiled over the previous year. The judging panel consists of a who’s-who of current and past automotive designers from across the industry. The EyesOn Design Awards have evolved into one of the auto industry’s most prestigious honors as they represent peer recognition of automotive designers’ innovative and outstanding work.

The CX concept was imagined as a future Corvette for the street or track. It still resembles a Corvette with its forward-lunging nose, horizontal feature line defining the upper and lower bodywork, and its dual taillights. A jet-like cockpit canopy is hinged in the front for easier occupant ingress and egress. The powertrain is all-wheel drive with 4 electric motors mounted on each wheel. Total power output can be more than 2000hp.

The winners in all four EyesOn Design categories will be announced next week at the Detroit Auto Show. Credentialed Media and Industry ticket holders can attend the awards ceremony on Media Day, Wednesday, January 14th at 12:50 pm.
