[VIDEO] Police Recover a Stolen C6 Corvette and Use the Car Thief's Social Media as Evidence Against Him

He thought he was untouchable behind the wheel of a stolen Corvette. But when the smoke cleared from his late-night donuts, the only thing spinning was his luck — thanks to social media.

A 21-year-old man learned the hard way that flaunting illegal joyrides online is a shortcut to handcuffs. Deputies say he fled from police in a stolen black C6 Corvette coupe over the weekend, only to be tracked down after posting videos of himself and a white Mustang doing donuts and driving recklessly around 12:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of 112th Street South and Pacific Avenue South in Parkland, Washington.

Earlier that night, a Pierce County deputy tried to pull the Corvette over, but the car’s speed turned pursuit into frustration. Even a sergeant who picked up the chase couldn’t keep the ‘Vette in sight. Other jurisdictions had also failed to make an arrest after discovering the car was stolen.

But the suspect’s own social media trail gave him away. Officers followed the digital breadcrumbs straight to a home, where bodycam footage captured the arrest in real time. The suspect now faces charges of eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle, and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Adding to the drama, another stolen vehicle — a black truck — was spotted across the street during the arrest.

Now, instead of burning rubber, the suspect is staring down charges that could burn years off his freedom.
