As rivalries go, the one between Corvette and Porsche for sports car supremacy has been keeping automotive fans entertained for over 50 years. Not only do these brands compete against each other in racing series around the world, but also for the hearts and checkbooks of enthusiasts who bought on Monday because the car won on Sunday. And of course, there are also the nationalistic reasons for supporting your favorite brand, as it’s no secret that the Corvette is as American as baseball and apple pie while Porsche is one of Germany’s best-known brands.
That leads us to today’s battle on the asphalt between two of the best cars offered by Corvette and Porsche. It’s a Euro-spec C8 Z06 versus a Porsche 911 GT3 which will race for a 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile down a British runway, and there’s a brake test thrown in at the end as well.

For the European market, the Z06’s 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8 does have slightly less power than its American version with 646 hp and 595 lb-ft of torque, and this one being driven by the folks from Carwow YouTube Channel is also equipped with the 07 Performance Package. The Z06 weighs in at 3780 lbs and comes with a price of £209,000 or about $279,850 USD.
The Porsche 911 GT3 is powered by a 4-liter flat six that makes 510 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. It weighs much less than the Z06 at 3,260 lbs and its costs £173,000 or $231,642 USD

They need to get someone who knows how to drive the Z06 if they want a true comparison. This guy is a dimwit.
Carwow is bad. They use a flagger for starts and never report times speeds or red lights. They use an airport so the surface is bad or inconsistent.
So many incorrect statements on the Z06. Price is $125000 USD. Weight is 3500. Torque is not 595. This European model is down on HP and torque. US spec 670HP / 460 ft lbs. Just a poorly written article.
I’m a multiple Corvette owner and I never want to see another video with this idiot driving the Corvette. How embarrassing, how would you let this fool who doesn’t know what the fuck he’s doing drive that Z06 in a race against the Porsche. Did anyone not think it was maybe smart to let the guy drive the car a little bit before you start filming?
I would imagine that European owners would be even more prone to debadging than their American counterparts–as even fewer people over there would recognize a Corvette.
That guy was sandbagging it with the vett, like he usually does with an American car that he drives. He should do it fairly and straight up. That’s bullshit.
The Z06 torque misprint immediately caught my attention.
Performance was pretty close once they settled in at speed. Whenever sports and exotic cars are compared, people want to passionately argue with me that drag racing means nothing. It does. I didn’t see any corners in this race. But people like to argue about the outcome of this straight line stuff anyway, don’t they?
