Every once in a while, new products come along and soon it seems like everyone and their neighbors are raving about how much of a “game-changer” it is. That’s how we first heard about Soler Performance and their throttle controllers and throttle bodies for the C6 through C8 Corvette. Friends like Steve Garrett of the CORVETTE TODAY Podcast, Justin of Horsepower Obsessed vlogs on Youtube and Corvette seller Rick Conti have all told me how adding a Soler Performance Throttle Controller & Throttle Body have “woke up their Corvettes” and makes them feel much more responsive than before.

We’re going to take a closer look into how adding a throttle controller and or throttle body will instantly change the character of your car for the better. If that sounds interesting, you can save money on your order by using the promo code CB5 at solerengineering.com.

Soler Performance Throttle Controller

Soler Performance Throttle Controller

Simply said, customers share the Soler Performance Throttle Controller “unleashes the full performance” that’s hidden within the OEM tuning of your car. As the C8 is essentially a drive-by-wire system, Soler Engineering can optimize the throttle’s response to your input so that it feels like there is meaningfully more power coming from it.

One of the ways this was explained to me is that with the OEM settings, there is a gentle ramp up curve for delivering the power from the throttle input, and it gets less restrictive as you give the car more throttle. While it feels like you may be giving it 50% throttle, the ECU may only be interpreting the input as 25% of throttle which is why it feels like there is lag or hesitation. The Soler Performance Throttle Controller removes that ramp up and instead offers a curve for the throttle that is more linear in that it sees 50% throttle input and it will give you 50% of the throttle output. If you ask for just 25% of throttle, that’s what you get. There are (10) modes and (64) settings allowing you to select just the right acceleration and ramping you prefer!

The throttle response from the controller is 100% adjustable and it features a Bluetooth app for your cell phone that allows you to select different modes that change how aggressive you want your throttle to be. You can select from the included list which includes a sport mode, a comfort mode, and a track mode, and there is even a Ludicrous mode for when you want to “go all in”.

One of the really cool benefits of the throttle controller is the built-in theft deterrence that it offers. You can set the throttle controller to “Lock” which interrupts the signal between the gas pedal and the throttle body and totally disengages the electronic throttle. So, if a thief was able to gain access to your Corvette and even if they had a key fob or were able to clone the owner’s key fob and start the car, there is no way for them to use the gas pedal as the throttle is electronically locked. A simple tap on the app when you are back in the car and you are off and running!

Not only can the Soler Performance Throttle Controller keep your Corvette from being stolen, but insurance companies may offer a discount for this passive anti-theft device including through an existing Soler partnership with the National Corvette Museum (NCM) Insurance Agency.

Installation of a Soler Performance Throttle Controller takes just minutes as it features a total plug and play design – zero cutting or splicing. Click here to watch a Corvette certified technician install the throttle controller while also providing some helpful tips to hide it away. The throttle controllers are warranty safe as they don’t require any changes to your engine tuning, nor does it alter any of the fuel trims in the car. . It also works on top of any current modification and/or tune (can be paired with any set up or OEM/aftermarket modifications). Soler Engineering believes you will be so impressed, they offer a “no questions asked” 30-day money back guarantee, and a standard 12-month replacement warranty in case of any electrical or mechanical malfunctions.

Soler Performance offers their Bluetooth throttle controllers for the C6 Corvette, and for the C7/C8 Corvette with priced at $229.00 and you can also upgrade to a three-year extended warranty for just $20 more.

All C6, C7 and C8 Corvette models will absolutely benefit. Based on some of the comments we’ve read, as well as talking to those who have one, where we see a real benefit for this mod is with Z06 owners. One of the main attractions of the Z06 is its high-revving naturally aspirated V8 engine that sounds better as the RPMs increase. A Soler Performance Throttle Controller will give you the ability to have the revs and exhaust note that still hits hard, but eliminates any lag, while providing you with much more responsive throttle mappings, which is great for when you are just out cruising or driving around town. Here is a Z06 enthusiast stating just how much of a change occurred.

If you like what we’ve shared so far about Soler Engineering, it’s about to get better. The company also specializes in offering various sized ported throttle bodies for the C6, C7, & C8 Corvettes. Ported throttle bodies are better optimized for improved air flow and because Chevrolet’s V8s are giant air pumps, allowing more air into it will provide you with real power gains. You will absolutely feel the difference in the low to mid torque range, especially when combined with the Soler Performance Throttle Controller.

Soler Performance spent years on designing and refining their throttle bodies for GM engines. Their top engineers analyzed the OEM throttle bodies and then went to work utilizing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools, Coordinate-Measuring Machines (CMM), and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery to maximize the air flow design through their state-of-the-art air flow benches while also increasing throttle response. Soler Performance is much more than a “porting” company, they also provide engineering, manufacturing, and consulting services, including but not limited to: Engineering Analysis, Reverse Engineering, Simulation (FEA and CFD), Modeling, Drafting, Metallurgical/Materials, Airflow Testing, Strength/Tensile Testing, Machining and Assembly, Dimensional Inspection, and more. Today Soler Performance claims their throttle bodies provide more airflow than any others on the market and as an American company they are manufactured right here in the USA.

With a Soler Performance Throttle Body and Throttle Controller, you will feel the increase in acceleration at all points off-idle to wide open throttle, improving shifts and an overall enhanced driving experience. But don’t just take our word for it. Here are some of the comments made from their customers (over one thousand Five-Star reviews) at solerengineering.com.

Soler Performance

Now that we’ve shared with you the features and benefits of Soler Performance Throttle Controllers and Throttle Bodies, the question you may be asking is do you need both of them to unlock the hidden acceleration in your Corvette? Both products aim to address lag and provide maximum acceleration. The Throttle Controller does it electronically while the Throttle Bodies do it mechanically (physical change). Both can work independently, but when combined the two products are able to deliver the ultimate anti-lag/maximum acceleration solution available. We are going to be trying out the Throttle Controller first and then if we like that improved throttle response, and then perhaps a Soler Performance Throttle Body would be the next mod to make.

Try the Soler Performance Throttle Controller and Throttle Body for your Corvette today and take advantage of their 30-day no-questions-asked full money back guarantee. Make sure to use promo code CB5 for savings of $11.45 or more on your order!

  1. I have these two items installed on my C7 for 5 years and would never go back. Off idle stumble that was notorious gone, and response is awesome.

  2. Hmm. I have one of these installed on my C8 and love it, but there are a few misconceptions in this story. First, it doesn’t help maximum acceleration at all, in spite of what the headline says. Full throttle is full throttle, whether the Soler is installed or not. If you mash the pedal to the floor or use Launch control, which is what you’d do for an acceleration run, the Soler does nothing for you. Where the Soler helps is in reducing lag at part throttle. It makes the car feel quicker in normal day to day driving, but won’t improve your 0-60 or 1/4 mile times at all. It sure does make the car feel more fun to drive though.

And in terms of theft protection, you mention insurance discounts for “passive” anti-theft devices. This isn’t a passive device. You have to manually set the throttle lock every time, and no insurance company is going to give you a discount for that. Especially since it doesn’t prevent the car from being started, shifted into neutral and towed, or even driven away (albeit very slowly).

It’s a great device. I recommend it highly. But it’s benefits are limited. It won’t actually improve acceleration times, and it makes your car a little harder to steal, but it certainly won’t prevent it.
