Criswell Chevrolet’s Mike Furman delivers new Corvettes to his customers who come from all across the country to work with the nation’s top individual Corvette seller.
Welcome to our Sunday post with Mike Furman. Mike has some great stories and photos today for us while also sharing pics of a customer delivery. As always, Mike has an outstanding collection of throwback and vintage pics to share. Got a favorite this week? Let us know in the comments below! I personally love the two photos that both feature matching a 1963 Coupe and Convertible in Ermine White.
You can see all of Mike’s posts and pictures through the week on his CorvetteFurman Facebook Page.
~This story dates back to Summer of 2016 and it was a normal Saturday at Criswell Chevrolet and I was speaking with a particular well connected guest when he had to take a phone call. The call was from Ed Welburn, automobile designer extraordinaire and former General Motors’ Vice President of Global Design. He was on vacation in Northern California and stepped out to grab some Starbucks at the Del Monte Shopping Center in Monterey, California. Those two coffee’s ended up being very expensive as he ran into Reggie Jackson. Reggie wanted to give Ed a quick tour of his collection which was stored close by. Well anyone that knows Ed, knows his favorite color combo is Silver with Red interior. Reggie opens the doors and immediately Ed was thunderstruck by the gleam of an Inca Silver 1957 Corvette with Red interior…understand real quick there were 6,339 Corvettes produced in 1957 and only 65 1957 Corvettes produced in Inca Silver!
Ed somehow managed to make a deal with Reggie and immediately called the guy standing next to me and of course my guest asked my opinion and after about 1 second of giving it thought, I said what a great find that was and an expensive coffee run! Talk about an exciting Saturday morning for all of us car guys involved especially Ed!
~Ron Fellows Spring Mountain News and Views…Sept 26th-Oct 3rd I will be at Spring Mountain Motorsports Club in Pahrump, Nevada. I will be hosting my Corvette customers from all around the Globe as they participate in the Corvette/Eray and Z06 owners school. This will be my “48th, 49th and 50th “classes that I’ve coordinated with Brooke and Todd so that I can be here and drive or just participate in the FUN that is always had by one and all. As always, all are welcome as my dinner guest the night before the first day of each class. You never know who will show up to entertain! If you’re looking for swag much like what I wear on a daily basis then take a look inside the Pro Shop on site with Melanie and her staff or go online shopspringmountain.com
For those that are attending, see you in a couple of weeks on the track!
~B. M. of Lewes, Delaware would factory order from me a new Yellow Convertible with a stick shift to use every day for all her errands and philanthropy work. She would run up the miles close to 100,000 and then order a new Corvette. She bought her Last 4 new Corvettes from me, 2002, 2011, 2016 and 2019 and the very same wholesaler would end up getting her trade in as a wholesale purchase. It became a running dialogue between me and the wholesaler as he would bring her name up every few years looking for her Yellow Stick Convt. As luck would have it this last time Billy bought her Corvette straight from the family because at 85 years young they preferred she had an auto trans sedan/small SUV. Today Billy drove up in her last Corvette because as you can imagine, it needed some cosmetic parts. I will miss my spirited customer but boy did she enjoy all her Corvettes!
~September 11th… Always a tough day for all, especially my friend/customer Wes Wong. Wes just sent me this note. Much respect my friend. (The picture attached was gifted to me by Wes many years ago)
“Hard to believe it’s been twenty-four years. How time flies. As many of you know, I take the Anniversary of 9/11 as a day of reflection.
I was in NYC on Tuesday, attending a Summit on Global Terrorism. There were attendees that were in the fight on that day and many more that joined because of 9/11. It was great to see many of my old buds and to reaffirm how lucky I was to be recruited by the Bureau and to have a wonderful career. It really was a calling and not a job. Looking back on that fateful day, I am reminded how lucky I am to be alive. It is estimated two-thirds of the men and women that were in the Command Center in the North Tower that morning perished when the building collapsed. On this day, I always remember my two former colleagues, John and Lenny and all the other poor souls we lost. One of the reasons that I am so lucky in life is your friendship. Many of you I have met after 9/11. Thank you for enriching my life.
Please take a moment today to remember all those that were lost twenty-four years ago today.”
~9/12/25 Friday eve at the Chesapeake Car Wash & Detail Center. The Corvette Annapolis Club is fortunate to have my customer/friend Tom Morris as a member of the club and the monthly meetings are held here at his Car Wash in Annapolis, MD. Tom decided to have a Corvette hand wash night and the weather could not be better so I decided to take the 50 mile ride across Maryland on my day off as I’m a member of this corvette club among many others. The corn hole is setup and the grille has fresh hot dogs and hamburgers sizzling. What a great turnout for this first ever Friday night club event. Big Thanks to Tom and his entire staff at the Chesapeake Car Wash in Annapolis.
~Robert and Debbie L. of Westlake, OHIO have been faithful followers of my Corvette stories on the internet for several years. Bob called me last week wanting to upgrade to an in stock 2025 Eray Convertible so I gave him a sight unseen trade in value and we made the deal over the phone. I had given him hotel/restaurant recommendations and they came in to Gaithersburg yesterday and enjoyed their Firebirds dining experience. This morning we did the swap of their Elkhart Lake Blue 2020 Corvette Coupe for their new Riptide Blue 2025 Corvette Eray Convertible with Sky Cool Gray interior. I had them headed back to OHIO in less than 30 minutes. Equipment: 3LZ, front lift, bright red calipers, bright polished forged aluminum wheels, ZER Performance pkg, engine appearance pkg and much more.

My fave is the beautiful dark blue big block 68 Convertible.
For sure the Thunderbird Flight Demonstration F-16’s & Team matching C8.
Wow… is that an AMC Pacer behind two C3’s by the Sunoco Service Center?
Mike, I am a fan of the 1-off Bob Wingate ’67 Coupe! It was the 1st of the California triple tail – lights! When will Chevy make you a special edition? Steve
