Watch all those scowls and yawns turn into big smiles on the face of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal after he gets to drive his new C8 Z06 for the first time.
But it wasn’t easy, even though the name of the custom shop that did the impossible, Effortless Motors, might seem to indicate otherwise.
Effortless promised Shaq back in March that his new Z06 – after being stretched 20 inches to accommodate his 7-1, 325-lb. frame – would be delivered in two to three weeks.
Maybe it wasn’t so easy to accomplish after all, as Shaq points out in a new YouTube video that the promised “two to three weeks” slowly turned into April, May, June, July, and August – and still no Corvette.
Then, on delivery day of all days, the custom windows cracked! Not what you want to see when you’re already late for your No. 1 customer.
“Normally this window right here usually takes seven to eight days to make a whole new one,” Effortless’s owner explains. “I got my guys in the warehouse right now cooking one up. It’s going to take us a couple more days.”
But another day, just another problem, he points out.
“This is just one of the things that goes into customizing a full custom vehicle,” he says. “There’s none in the market like this. It’s not an everyday thing. And this is just some of the issues you got to deal with. You know, it sucks. We’re not happy about it. But we’re going to make it right. At the end of the day, as long as he’s happy when he gets this, it’ll make all these problems go away.”
To ease some of the sting for Shaq of having to wait a couple of extra days to get his new toy, Effortless decides that instead of letting the car just sit at its shop, waiting for the new glass, they’ll bring it to Shaq so “you can see it for at least a day. You know, put the windows down, enjoy it for the day, and then Monday, I’ll just catch you in the…”
“No, you said no windows,” Shaq interrupts teasingly. “No, you just said roll the window.”
“No, it’s, yeah, I got windows on it, but we’re getting new windows!”
Judging by the gigantic smile on Shaq’s face as he manages to fit his huge frame into the longest Z06 in the world and then takes the car for its first drive, we think Effortless has sunk another game-winning basket at the buzzer for the legendary basketball star.

Mourning civility.
Curious I am. Did Mr. O’Neil purchase the vette? Did he pay to have it customized for his large self? Or is it another person with millions accepting a gift from a manufacturer? Will the Vette work for a person much shorter if he donates the car or give it to someone that could use the money it will bring? Just wondering
I bought a new Z06 the Friday Thursday evening’s “stop sell” order dur to the fuel filler issue… so the dealer is hanging on to it and I’m stuck waiting for my new hot rod. Many of us are waiting for news on that and I hear they’re going to prioritize dealers since they’re waiting for money to close deals like mine.
Can you include dealer and owner updates on this matter with each issue?

Interest about subject immediately on visual development of title subject …. HOWEVER after watching for less than 2 minutes … Bombarded by 10 ads turned me off and never finished. Shame on your greed over intellectual content.
By the way…have owned 2 vettes and been driving manual transmissions for 48 yrs.
Can you do a little research and find out what and how they managed to stretch the car. I think there are a lot of readers that would be very interested in how it was accomplished.
I agree with the Detroit guy, I’m much more interested in how it was built than the finished product without details.
Heck make it a 4 door so you can take all your kids for a ride.

First… the fuel filler issue isn’t a huge issue. I don’t believe any Vettes have actually flamed out.
When they claimed 2 to 3 weeks, dude was smoking crak. Stretching any car is complex. But to maintain chassis integrity on a sports car… lengthening the doors, the targa top, the frame rails… wow…
And the cracked door glass worries me from a structural perspective.
As far as I know, Shaq pays is own freight on these custom cars. And yes, he can afford it.
Shaq went to the wrong shop. With “Cost no object” he should have researched high end shops that could have done the job in half the time. With both windows cracking. you know there are structural deficiencies that will be one problem after another.
@Roy S. STFU. You are a whiny child. The video was made for your entertainment, not so that you could make yourself or others with your mindset feel entitled. Whether Shaq purchased the Vette or was gifted it is irrelevant. Nobody is entitled to the work or gifts of another. What Shaq decides to do with his Vette is his business. If he wants to immediately scrap it in a yard, that’s his prerogative. Watch the video. Be entertained. If you aren’t mental mature enough to see others benefit when you don’t and can’t handle that, then don’t watch the video.
The windows cracking would’ve been a wrap for me because what caused that?? Promising a car in a week and then for it to take almost 6 months? They should be embarrassed and never gone public with that I don’t care that Shaq is the client. I want to see him get in there with that top on. Right now his head is sticking up there’s no way he’s fitting in that with with the top on. He’s gonna be crammed in there like Mr. Incredible 🤣🤣 it is amazing he got in and out of it though I struggle with mine and I’m only 5’6. The c8 sits so low. He better be careful with his knees. It’s a little rough getting in and out lol
I’m way more interested in the work that went into stretching the car. Body panels, sure but how the heck did the stretch the chassis without compromising the rigidity? It might twist and creak over every bump.
Not a hundred percent but fairly sure I could break into the drunk space stretch pedals forward for more foot room and with some light body and interior mods done the same thing without stretching the car messing up it’s safety ergonomics and performance making it more comfortable and spacious without messing with frame and structural integrity of the car allowing windows to stay stock and doing the job way under the price shaq paid no disrespect to shop just opinion if you don’t think it cant be done effortless I’m all ears oh enjoy the new whip shaq you the man I miss basketball it’s pansy league these days no hand checking sissy ass … Only reason people think LeBron is so good is doesn’t have any competition if he played in a league with you and bird and MJ and Kobe and the entire dream team you played in a era when you had to be spectacular to stand out like you did.
