When legendary Corvette engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov retired in the mid-1970s, one of his first purchases was his first personal Corvette, a new ’74 because it was the last of the big-blocks.
Now, another one of those 454/270 horsepower (with 395 lb-ft of torque) ’74s is up for sale on Craigslist out of Long Island, New York for the appropriate-sounding asking price of $24,454.
Unlike Zora’s old ride, which has worn silver, bright green, and two-tone blue paint over the past 50+ years, this New York car is said to still be wearing its original Bright Yellow paint.
The seller points out that the ’74 represents a number of other lasts for the Corvette as well, including the last without catalytic converters, the last with true dual exhaust, and the last that could run off leaded and unleaded gas.
“This is an original all numbers-matching, unmodified, flawless-running classic Corvette, ” the owner says, noting that it’s one of only 9% of ’74 Stingrays with the 454 engine.
This car also has plenty of other options, including power steering, power brakes, and power windows, along with air conditioning, FE7 gymkhana suspension, Turbo 400 automatic transmission, tilt-telescopic steering column, dual horns, AM/FM stereo radio, map light, and deluxe woodgrain Saddle leather interior. The full list with RPOs includes:

The seller says the car has a rust-free frame, no shock since it has spent its entire life in Arizona, and furthermore has a virgin no-hit original body.
“Adult owned” and “meticulously maintained,” this Corvette still “works exactly like it should” – everything “from the key buzzer and the radio, to the cigarette lights and the courtesy lights and everything in between.”
Saying he would not hesitate to drive this Corvette anywhere, the seller closes by asking rhetorically: “Why drive an anemic small block 350, when for almost the same price you can have RARE factory big block 454 torque and bragging rights.

For a little more money,I could buy Elvis Presley yellow Pantera . True story I’ve been punched by Stallone, and Shot at buy Elvis. Check out the movie Cobra. The you tube clip: Clean up your act .
Pretty nice price considering if it’s as pristine as the owner states. I’m just not a fan of the rubber front and rear bumper years (73 on}. Earlier years with chrome front and rear bumpers look classic.
I think it is a great option for someone looking to buy an older vette.
It looks well cared for, has the best engine available, and the right options.
It isn’t my favorite color, but I could learn to like it given the other pluses.
Last name Talley was a brick layer contractor I worked with in Sàfford AZ
The first 454 I drove was a 73 three quarter ton it used oil . Then our 75 GMC 1 ton would vapper lock I think it was because the fuel line was to close to the engine.
Had a orange 71 big block Three quarter ton with the eight lug mag wheels . Car auction had a wrecker tow truck with 427 complete race engine.
