Brooks from DragTimes got his hands on a Competition Yellow 2026 Corvette ZR1 from General Motors for a few hours and took it for a drive down the Pacific Coast Highway to Big Sur during Monterey Car Week.
As this is a new 2026 model, Brooks first goes through and checks out the three-screen layout and the new gauges. One that catches his eye is the new Performance Gauge which shows the horsepower and torque output. Later, during the driving portion of the video, we get to see that spike over 1000 hp, so you know you’re driving something special.
Brooks takes the top off and together with a Ford GT they drive down the PCH to Big Sur. All kinds of spectators are lined up along the roads hoping to catch all the exotics in the area, and we see more than a few during the ride.
During the drive, Brooks tells us about another friend of his with a 2025 Corvette ZR1 who is setting some new records as captured by his Dragy data logger. The video clip shows the ZR1 with a 9.57 second quarter mile at 152.14 mph and during the run his 60-130 mph was 4.55 seconds. On his next pull, the Dragy recorded a 4.28 second 60-130 mph sprint.
Back to the drive, what a fantastic road to test the capabilities of the new 2026 Corvette ZR1, and the scenic views are unbelievable. Totally worth your 15 minutes to watch this one!

So maybe I should get a YT channel. Then maybe GM will hand the keys to a Z-R1 to me to drive here in SW Florida ! I’d be sure to give them my honest impressions of the car!!
I need some ZR1 and, especially, ZR1X times from a drag strip. Brooks is a shady character whom I do not trust.
