We told you a few days ago that the C8 Corvette is going to be available in Singapore.
Now comes news that the world of mid-engine Corvette is growing even larger, with three variants soon to be available in South Africa.
General Motors exited the South African market in 2017, but the return of the C8 isn’t an officially sanctioned venture by the company. Instead, the mid-engine Corvettes are being offered as a low-volume import through the CVH Auto Group out of Bryanston, Johannesburg.
According to the CVH website, Corvette Stingray coupes and convertibles with factory-built right-hand drive will be offered by the company, which also imports Maseratis in South Africa.
CVH says the Corvettes will not be grey imports or aftermarket conversions, claiming “they’re authentic performance machines delivered directly through our established global partnerships.” The cars will be fully homologated in South Africa.
The Stingrays will be offered in 2LT and 3LT trims, all with the Z51 package, and Z06s will also be available to order by “special request only,” CVH says. The cars will have “full aftersales support” at CVH Auto workshops in Bryanston and Cape Town.
Prices will begin at R3.7 million, which is a little over $207,000 in US dollars and includes a service plan and warranty, according to CVH.
