All festooned with American flags on the fenders and other red, white, and blue decorations draped on the hood and wheels, this 2019 Sebring Orange Corvette ZR1 coupe was a hit at the Fourth of July Parade in Santa Clarita, California earlier this month.
But now that one-year-only Corvette is missing, its glass shattered and cover found discarded in a neighbor’s yard.
A review of surveillance camera footage and interviews with neighbors led police to conclude that the ZR1 was likely stolen around 3:30 a.m. July 9. Neighbors assumed the alarm they heard that night had just gone off by accident and didn’t alert authorities.
The owner, a resident of Stevenson Ranch, discovered the shocking theft when he walked out his front door that morning.
In the days leading up to the theft, a suspicious silver car, possibly a Honda or Toyota, had been seen by the owner’s daughter repeatedly cruising through their neighborhood, then leaving the area when approached.
The stolen ‘Vette was number 202 out of the 2,953 ZR1s built only during the 2019 model year and furthermore was one of only 614 ZR1s built in its color combination.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first C7 ZR1 that’s been stolen. Last September, one of three ZR1 convertibles in Canada was swiped and later found stripped and destroyed, with only part of the car ever recovered.

I have have 2 questions,why was the car outside unprotected,,two ,the neighbors heard the alarm but the owner didn’t.Seems suspicious to me 🤷♂️
In the old West, if you stole someone’s horse, that was a hanging offense. Perhaps we should bring that law back and use it on Corvette thief’s
Agree with Frank, also how high was the comprehensive coverage? Maybe more than the car was really worth.
If I had this year and model Vette, it would have been in the garage. That’s where my “lowly” 2014 convertible is.
