Thanks again for joining us today! Mike is on a well-deserved vacation this week and Friday is Independence Day so we hope you’ll be celebrating by driving America’s Favorite Sports this week! Before Mike jetted out of town, he did leave us with several new Corvette deliveries plus he got to drive Mr. Criswell’s new 2025 ZR1 if only to put some premium fuel in the tank. Following the deliveries, check out the fun vintage photos and throwbacks from years gone by. My favorite for the week is the C1 Corvette racing in the rain wearing the #12. I believe that is Roger Penske behind the wheel but I could be mistaken.

~The C4 ZR1 was produced 1990-1995 and the production numbers were very low but ranks high as a cool super car of its day. In 1995 Gary Konner still was one of the principle owners of Malcolm Konner Chevrolet which had held the Top Corvette selling spot for GM since the early 1960’s. Gary was able to place a very special factory order and was awarded vin 00001! Two items that Gary asked for were the front parking lights to be all body color around the bumper lights (instead of black) and the underside of the hood shell to be body color as well. Gary still owns this Yellow 1995, only 49 of the 448 ZR1’s that year were produced in Yellow. Take a look at the pictures from the back lot of The Corvette Plant just before Gary’s 1995 ZR1 shipped to his Paramus, NJ dealership. Gary had a lot of pull with GM and sat on many advisory boards for the Corvette back in the day. Gary even gifted me my very first Corvette black book from 1978! I lost it in Hurricane Sandy but a good friend of mine, Jim B. of PA replaced it for me. Gary has his 1995 ZR1 Corvette stored in New Jersey with under 75 miles on the odometer. Not for sale as I’m sure it will stay in the family. I always say that my time spent working for Konner Auto from 1978-1990 was the springboard for the rest of my career. Gary still shakes his head at all that I remember from those dozen years. I thank him every chance I get because Gary was a Corvette encyclopedia of knowledge.

I had some spirited fun ZR1 style (only 1,064+ horsepower) and was reluctant to hand back the keys to Mr. Criswell but I noticed it was not filled with high test yet so I went to the corner gas station adjacent to Criswell Auto and filled it up before parking it in the shade on this fine 100 degree day.

~6:45am Saturday 6/28/25~ It’s like Groundhog Day every day as my first three deliveries of the morning are cleaned and ready to go to their respective customers. Not shown is the Sebring Orange Z06 that I already pulled down to the delivery area. Have a great day.
~ C8 Deliveries for the week:
~Dino K. of Potomac, Maryland placed his factory order with me for a Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat 2025 Corvette Z06 coupe with Natural interior. This morning was our delivery appt and our business mgr was off so I had them sign all the paperwork (which took 2 minutes) and then I made them copies of everything. The fun part was spent going over the Z06 with Dino and watching his kids enjoy the process. The 7th grader chose Taylor Swift for the drive home with Dad! Her eyes widened when I informed them that I sold a Z06 to Taylor Swift’s bodyguard.
Equipment: 3LZ, stealth interior trim, Carbon ceramic brakes, black exhaust tips, dual roof, 10 spoke black forged aluminum wheels and much more.

I like the pic of the ultra rare 1971 ZR-1 Convertible. It is sharp looking!
My favorite is the ’62 conv pulling in the driveway of the super shady driveway. That could be me except that car didn’t have a fuel injection bar under the cross flags & wasn’t Roman Red.
The shocking photo is the wrecked C8 Z06.
I rarely post anything here so I’ll make up for it today. There are two photos that are personal to me.
1. The photo of the Shriners lined up on Market Street in St. Louis, with the Gateway Arch being completed in the background. The Arch was finished in October of ’65, and this close to completion makes the Vettes late ’65’s or probably early ’66’s. My wife and I had our first jobs out of college in StL back in ’81, and all three of our kids were born there. We lived there twice for a total of ten years, took the tram to the top of the Arch many times, and we all still bleed Cardinal red. Great memories.
2. The photo of the U Drop Inn cafe, literally right on The Mother Road. This is in Shamrock, TX, and the cafe is (in this photo) connected to a Fina gas station. However, it gained fame as the iconic Tower Conoco station, with the building also housing the cafe. The Tower Conoco has been restored to a 1940 appearance and serves as a visitor’s center and the local Chamber of Commerce office, while the cafe has been reopened also with a limited menu (good stuff!). My wife and I stayed at the historical Western Motel just across the street two weeks ago on our way to Albuquerque. Having these two historically significant businesses within spitting distance of our motel was incredibly cool. Oh, and the Tower Conoco also has ties to the Disney Pixar movie “Cars.” Google it!
