Corvettes for Sale: Stalled 1965 Corvette Convertible Project on eBay

Like seemingly everyone else in the world these days, the owner of this 1965 Corvette convertible just doesn’t have the time to finish the project.

That’s why he has put his C2 Sting Ray up for sale on eBay out of Marble Falls, Texas. The unfinished car has drawn a lot of interest on the internet, and 22 bids have climbed to $28,699 with the auction coming to an end on Monday afternoon, June 16. If you can’t wait that long and feel confident enough in the condition of the car, you can “Buy It Now” for $39,000.

Admittedly, a lot of the heavy lifting seems to have already been done on this Corvette, including a rebuild of the 327 V8 engine under the hood as well as a recent two-stage Tuxedo Black repaint that still needs to be cut and buffed, according to the seller.

The listing doesn’t say whether that engine is the original matching-numbers unit, and we aren’t told if the four-speed manual transmission is, either. We do know, thanks to a comment by a once-potential bidder, that the original color scheme was maroon over maroon, so if you’re into originality, this might not be the Corvette for you.

In addition, among other tasks, the new owner will have to finish up the interior, which has already been stripped and will need carpet, door panels, at least one seat, a new steering wheel (the current plastic woodgrain one has a bad split at the top), and restoration of the dash. Also required will be the installation of a new wiring harness to get the rebuilt motor up and running. Outside, besides finishing up the paint job, bumpers will need to be sourced front and rear and then installed, and the trim is missing from the included hardtop. No word on whether there is a ragtop, however.

Though the listing photos aren’t of high quality, the body appears to be in decent enough shape, and the seller claims that the undercarriage is “very clean.”

He’s throwing in “many” new parts, including four Delco calipers and a fuel tank, noting that he believes the car “will make a great project” that “unfortunately” he just can’t get around to finishing.
