This 1962 resto-mod certainly captured the attention of two bidders intent on winning the auction at Mecum Glendale on March 22.
Even when the reserve was lifted at $160,000, an intense bidding war continued, with the hammer finally dropping at a whopping $215,000. Add in the commission, and that means the new owner shelled out $236,500!
But what a car he won!
Based on a 2013 C6 chassis, the Classic Reflection Coachworks 1962 conversion uses computer-engineered carbon fiber replacement body panels.
The body – coated in a matte finish of Tasco Turquoise with White coves – is far from the only modern touch, however.
This classic C1/C6 also features a fuel-injected 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine capable of 436 horsepower from the factory, mated with an automatic transmission.
The custom Turquoise and Black interior, lifted from a C6 donor and upgraded with custom color leather, was completed in 2020 and looks great against the similar shade on the body.
Other upgrades include four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, a custom steering wheel, custom Diamond Back whitewall tires, custom Curtis wheels with custom center caps with “Legend Reborn” and Corvette flags, heated seats, power windows, power seats, head-up display, electronic door handles, and traction control.
We appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into these resto-mods updated with modern technology, but the bigger body lines somehow don’t look quite right to us. All that matters, though, is that the new owner is satisfied, and this car has more than enough “oomph” to do just that.

Finally CRC cars getting their dues. Brilliant idea to couple the modern C6 chassis with a retro carbon body fit. Watched the video on how it is done and it’s solid work. Congratulations!

You got that right that the bigger body lines on this car don’t look quite right. At the last GAA Classic Car Auction I saw a C1 conversion like this but it was based on a C7. The body lines on that car were just all wrong and they looked worse than this one.
